After introducing the Snapchat-like status feature, WhatsApp seems to be working yet another new feature "Size." tab. This new feature aims at showing information about how much space a chat is taking up and which chat has occupied the maximum chunk on app storage.
The new feature is spotted in the version 2.17.86 on WhatsApp beta for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1, which is currently limited to beta testers. It brings a variety of other features that display individual chat information such as how many messages have been shared between both the parties, how many GIFs and images have been sent, and much more. Also, the new Size Tab can range information in the order of media size, which would be helpful for users to spot and delete large media files quickly.
The changelog shared on WhatsApp beta for Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1 version 2.17.86, states,"Clicking on individual chats now gives you more detailed information. The Size tab contains the same data in a different order since the size is sorted by the size of Images and Text but not by the number."
As we already mentioned, the new feature is limited to beta testers but if you have a Windows phone, then you could opt for becoming a beta tester and try out the new features. Go to Windows Store for signing up for the program.
We can expect the company to roll out these new features for its app on Android and iOS soon. The Facebook-owned instant messenger's recent update that brought the new "Status" feature has not received a positive response from all the users. The new feature is like Snapchat or Instagram stories, which is automatically vanished in 24 hours after uploading. Users can only see the status of contacts that they have in their phonebook.
