Vodafone Idea (Vi) is extending the VoWi-Fi service to new states. The third-largest telco has now extended the service for its users living in Rajasthan. VoWi-Fi is a very convenient medium for users to make crystal clear voice calls if they are in an area where the mobile network connectivity is weak. With the addition of the Rajasthan circle, VoWi-Fi will now be available in a total of 6 circles in India which also includes Gujarat, Maharashtra & Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Delhi. For the unaware, there’s no additional cost for the users to make a VoWi-Fi call. All that is required is a smartphone that supports it and a strong Wi-Fi connection.
Vodafone Idea VoWi-Fi Calling, Things to Know
If you want to check if the Vi VoWi-Fi calling is activated, you should look for the icon at the top bar of the screen. To make a Wi-Fi call, first enable the Wi-Fi Calling switch on your device and ensure that the VoLTE setting is also switched on at that time. You can make VoWi-Fi calls to anyone including local, national, and international number.
Note that if the Wi-Fi network that your device is connected to is weak, you won’t get a good experience of VoWi-Fi calling with Vi.
There are only select smartphones that can support Vi VoWi-Fi. Vodafone Idea’s website suggests that few smartphones from Apple, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Samsung, and Xiaomi can support the feature.
The purpose of VoWi-Fi is to enable users to get a seamless network experience and indoor coverage. Wherever the telco’s network is not reachable but there’s a Wi-Fi connection available, users can leverage VoWi-Fi calling feature from the company to make voice calls. The telecom circles mentioned above only allow users to make Wi-Fi calls. The company is working to extend the feature to other circles soon.
