As expressed our views earlier operators are trying to promote 3G by hiking 2G tariff and bringing down the 3G prices to 2G prices which were already hiked earlier so as to bridge the gap between the prices and technology. We have been receiving messages and information from users across various circles saying they are enjoying 3G at 2G prices.

Here is a screenshot of a sms sent out by VodafoneIN (AP Circle) to some of it's users.

Vodafone 3G@2G Rates

The last SMS states - " Vodafone 3G now at 2G rates. RC147 now gives 1GB 3G Data for 30 Days."

The thing that needs to be emphasized here is that Vodafone is offering 3G in AP via ICRA agreements but still offering 3G at affordable prices. This makes anyone think about the native 3G service providers and future pricing of 3G services.

Be it a long time strategy or promo offer to study market requirements and usage patterns of users only users who are in good 3G coverage areas can enjoy the services because of patchy 3G coverage. What ever it is we are getting notified by happy customers whenever they are enjoying 3G at affordable or 2G price tags.

Dear reader, do let us know whats your opinion on the above said.

-Thanks Swetha for the Screenshot.
