Tunisie Telecom has reported recent achievements in its ongoing efforts to improve telecommunications services in Tunisia. The company says it is preparing its infrastructure for the launch of commercial 5G services. In the Tunisian telecommunications market, Tunisie Telecom holds a 38 percent share of total revenue, with a 75 percent share in the fixed-line market and a 31 percent share in mobile telephony.

Upgrading International Bandwidth
Tunisie Telecom has increased its international bandwidth capacity to 2.5 terabits per second by upgrading its three submarine cable systems: Hannibal, Keltra 1 and 2, and SMW4. The company also mentioned it has accelerated the rollout of optical fiber, covering more than 50,000 kilometres across several regions.
Enhancing Mobile Network Speeds
The operator reported that these improvements have led to enhanced mobile network speeds, now exceeding 100 Mbps, while 4G LTE coverage has expanded to 98 percent of Tunisia's population. Efforts to cover underserved areas and expand the fiber optic network are also underway.
Commitment to Sustainability
Tunisie Telecom has also committed to an energy transformation program. As part of its Green Tech initiative, the operator has installed photovoltaic panels at more than 150 sites in the south of the country, generating 3.2 megawatts. This initiative not only reduces energy costs but also reinvests the savings in accelerating the development of the network, the official release said.
