The night packs have an inbuilt feature to prevent any bill shock to the customers. While the downloading or browsing will continue uninterrupted even after the allocated free quota of data is exhausted, the user will be charged maximum of Rs 5 per day at a pulse rate of 2 paisa/20 Kb of data. After this the user can access unlimited data till 7 AM in the morning.

Unveiling the innovative product, Sharad Mehrotra, Chief Executive Officer, Telenor (India) Communications said, “Telenor has a vision to extend the benefits of Internet for all through affordable, easy to use and relevant products. Innovative products like the night pack not only makes data access affordable but also gives subscribers control over their usage. With packs like these we are committed to deliver better quality service experience to all our subscribers on our new modernised network.”

Currently around 24% of Telenor India subscribers use data services on their mobile devices and we expect this to grow to over 50% by 2017.

“We have seen that increasingly subscribers are downloading content from Internet including videos at night as the network is relatively less congested. With the night data packs, we are making data usage simple to understand. By provisioning a bill shock prevention mechanism, we are bringing higher transparency in the tariff plans for our customers while ensuring freedom to consume content like videos at their own convenience,” said Amaresh Kumar, Chief Product Officer, Telenor India.

Telenor subscribers can avail these offers at all the retail outlets, selling Telenor products or by dialling *222*7*(pack price)#. These packs are also available on the Telenor App and website www.telenor.in

According to data published by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India the Internet penetration in the country is around 26% and there were 312 million wireless data users. Industry estimates indicate that Indian internet traffic is set to rise more than four-fold by 2020 at a compounded annual growth rate of 34% from 2015. The massive growth is expected to be driven by more than 600 million new internet users and combination of factors including increasing mobile access, Wi-Fi expansion and demand for video services.
