Spark New Zealand (Spark) has named Nokia its preferred 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) partner, with the goal of streamlining operations and consolidating its network infrastructure. With this partnership, Spark will expand its existing 4G and 5G infrastructure in key cities across New Zealand, the company said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

Strengthening 5G Network Capabilities
Nokia will supply equipment from its 5G AirScale portfolio, including baseband units, remote radio heads, and massive MIMO radios. These solutions leverage Nokia's ReefShark System-on-Chip technology, designed to enhance capacity, coverage, and connectivity.
Spark's Commitment to Customer Experience
Commenting on the partnership, Spark NZ said: "Nokia has been a trusted partner of ours for many years, and we are excited to work with them to bring a world-class 5G network to more of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Expanding Coverage Across New Zealand
The deal includes coverage for over 700 sites across the country and will support Spark's goal of simplifying and consolidating network operations.
