Samsung is working on the Galaxy A56, the successor to Galaxy A55 which launched earlier this year. The Galaxy A55 is a premium phone as you will find it in the zone of Rs 40,000 bracket. The device is decent and presents as a good option for consumers in that price range. However, hold your horses before purchasing the Galaxy A55 as the Galaxy A56, which is now a few months away (launch expected in the first quarter of calendar year 2026), could have much better power than the Galaxy A55.
Samsung Galaxy A56 is expected to feature the Exynos 1580 chip. For the unaware, the Galaxy A55 features Exynos 1480. So what could be new with the Galaxy A56's Exynos 1580 chip? Let's see.

Samsung's Exynos 1580 Could be Way More Powerful than You Think
Samsung's Exynos 1580 is expected to feature a robust architecture with Cortex-A720 and Cortex-A520 cores (via Gizmochina). For the graphics, the chipset is equipped with the advanced Xclipse 540 GPU. In addition to this, the NPU is upgraded on this chip to power Samsung AI features. The Geekbench listing also showed that the chip was running on a device with Android 15. Further, the chip architecture was 1+3+4, whereas on the Exynos 1480 this was 4+4. So there are definitely improvements on the chip. How much better will this translate into overall performance with the device is something we will have to wait for.
There is not much known about the Samsung Galaxy A56 at the moment. However, you can still purchase the Galaxy A55 if you want to. The device comes with 4 years of OS upgrades and 5 years of security updates. So you can purchase the phone now and be worry free for the next four to five years.
