S Tel, one of the latest entrants in the Indian GSM mobile space, today announced the launch of its GSM mobile service in Himachal Pradesh telecom circle with two tariff plans, one is Pay Per Second and second is All@50 paisa,wherein S tel mobile service subscribers can make call Local and STD calls at 1p/sec and 50p/min respectively.
S tel has also lined up popular VAS content covering entertainment as well as knowledge-based content like Learn English and Examination Tips over its IVR service 91290-12345 in Himahcal Pradesh.
S Tel, a joint venture between Siva Group (formerly Sterling Infotech Group) and BMIC Limited, a subsidiary of Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) begin its GSM mobile service from Himachal Pradesh and according to the company with in next ten days they will launch the same in Bihar and Orissa. Batelco has 49 per cent stake in S Tel and the Siva group holds 51 per cent stake.
Speeking on the launch, Mr. Swaminathan, Director STel said "STel is one of the first new operators to enter the market in a very timely manner due to infrastructure sharing with existing operators".
S Tel is sharing the whole infrastructure with existing operators and has decided not to put up any tower of its own. Reliance Infratel and STEL have signed an end-to-end telecom infrastructure agreement for telecom towers, transmission for BTS sites and fibre backbone for intercity connectivity. S Tel’s agreement with Reliance Communications covers all telecom circles where the telecom operator plans to roll-out its GSM services soon.
