After being criticised for more than two months for poor LTE speed claims, Reliance Jio is having an excellent time in 2017. The company has now topped the TRAI's MySpeed portal report for a sixth consecutive time, beating incumbent operators hands down. TRAI released the data collected by its My Speed app for the month of June 2017 late yesterday, in which Reliance Jio topped the chart with an average download speed of 18.654 Mbps.
Nevertheless, the download speed of Jio came down from 18.809 Mbps it achieved in May 2017, a marginal drop though. Speaking of other operators average download speed, Vodafone India is second on the list with 11.070 Mbps speed, Idea Cellular stands third with an average speed of 9.465 Mbps, while Bharti Airtel comes fourth on the list with an average download speed of 8.916 Mbps in June 2017.
For the unaware, Reliance Jio achieved all time highest average download speed of 19.12 Mbps in April 2017. Since then, the operator' speeds are marginally coming down with every passing month. But the average download speed of Jio is more than double the download speed of Bharti Airtel.
When it comes to average upload speed, Reliance Jio lags behind the competition as seen in earlier months. Idea Cellular is the top average upload speed operator with 6.238 Mbps speed, while Vodafone India is second in the list 6.050 Mbps, followed by Airtel with 4.564 Mbps, and lastly, Reliance Jio which achieved an average upload speed of 4.512 Mbps in June 2017.
These data speeds are for the 4G technology. When we consider the 3G technology, Vodafone comes on top with an average download speed of 5.168 Mbps, followed by Idea Cellular with 2.941 Mbps speed. Airtel is third on the list with 3.568 Mbps average download speed on the 3G technology. Furthermore, Aircel registered a speed of 2.393 Mbps, while state-run telecom operator stands in fifth place with 1.650 Mbps average download speed. It' sad to see Idea losing its momentum in both the 4G and 3G technologies.
In 3G upload speed, Vodafone is on top with 2.003 Mbps average upload speed in June 2017, followed by Idea Cellular with 1.530 Mbps and Bharti Airtel with 1.497 Mbps speed. Aircel registered an upload speed of 1.378 Mbps, while BSNL has 1.020 Mbps upload speed in June 2017.
