Oppo’s camera-centric F1 smartphone launched in India with 8MP front-facing camera at Rs. 15,990

Oppo has finally unveiled the F1 smartphone in India for a price of Rs. 15,990. The company had been teasing the device in India for a while and today it finally took the wraps off it. Unfortunately, the Oppo F1 has many competitors in the mid-range segment in the Indian smartphone market. In terms of specifications, the Oppo F1 comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels along with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 64-bit chipset clubbed with 3GB of RAM. It has 16GB of internal storage, which can be further increased up to 128GB via microSD card. The device runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Oppo’s in-house Color OS 2.1 on top.




The main highlight of the device is its 13-Megapixel primary camera with LED Flash, PDAF, 1080p video recording, along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Oppo has marketed the device in a way to selfie lovers, and that is why the device is equipped with features such as Beauty mode and colour filters for the front camera app. Moreover, the phone also comes with ’screen flash’ feature that turns the screen into a front flash for brighter selfies. The phone is backed by a 2,500mAh battery and will be available in Golden color variant.

In the connectivity department, the device supports Hybrid dual-SIM, 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS. It measures 143.5 x 71 x 7.25 mm and weighs 134 grams. The device looks like a good mix of design and camera features. On the design part, it has been embodied in metal, which gives it a premium feel. The company also revealed that it will be bringing another variant of the F1 to India in April, dubbed as F1 Plus, which will retail at Rs. 26,990.
