Follow Us

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7 Pro in India a little more than a month ago. The phone has been on the headlines since and has been getting rave reviews from everyone owing to its impressive performance, display and the other quirks which it packs. Users believe that for the first time, OnePlus has launched a phone this costly and this good. Even with the increased price point, the OnePlus 7 Pro has so far justified it. We have been using the device daily for gaming, calls, texting and other purposes since the day of the launch and it would be safe to say that we are more than impressed. If you are still having thoughts about whether or not you should buy this phone, then read this review after our one month of usage of the OnePlus 7 Pro to find out the answer to your dilemma.

Stunning Display

Prior to the launch of OnePlus 7 Pro, DisplayMate had hyped the display of the OnePlus 7 Pro by awarding it an A+ rating. The rating ranks it equal to the Samsung Galaxy S10, and on using the phone for a month, we were able to find the reason why. The 6.65-inch Optic AMOLED screen of the OnePlus 7 Pro renders very vibrant bright colours with high contrast and decent brightness. The curved edges of the screen also make it very convenient for the users to reach out to the edges while using the phone with one hand. Another stellar feature of the OnePlus 7 Pro display is the 90Hz refresh rate which makes the graphics on the screen appear buttery smooth and also enhances the gaming experience.

Brilliant Design

After using the OnePlus 7 Pro for more than a month, we were able to decipher just how much thought has been put into designing this phone. On a lot of occasions, it was easy to lose track of the upper and lower edge of the phone while gaming or watching videos in landscape mode. The extremely thin bezels which cover the display uniformly are certainly a big attraction of the device. On the rear side, the Nebula variant of the phone with matte finish does get smudges and dust, but still manages to maintain its shine. Another thing which the users might feel with the OnePlus 7 Pro is its weight as the phone packs a lot of hardware.

Camera Setup that Stands Apart from the Rest

When OnePlus had launched the OnePlus 7 Pro in the market boasting of a Dx0Mark rating of 111. However, on inspection, many reviews had found the phone to be a little underwhelming in the camera and imaging department for a 111 score. Later it was revealed that the full potential of the OnePlus 7 Pro camera was courtesy of a new update which has been rolled out to the users now. The new update makes it possible for the rear sensor to pick up light in auto mode even in very dark settings. The images also have a better dynamic range, and the contrast on the pictures is just right to make the pictures look great. Even in low light, the noise in the photos is minimum, the colours are enhanced, and the details are preserved. The new update also brings improvements to the front camera as now the selfies contain a lot of details and the images rendered are sharp.

Performance

OnePlus smartphones have been synonymous with performance for a few years now, and the same is true for the OnePlus 7 Pro. In our usage of one month, the OxygenOS updates in the meantime have only improved the experience of the phone, and the entire device interface has proven to be very conducive to multi-tasking. The optimisations on the device have also improved the battery life of the 4,000mAh cell. The new OxygenOS updates have also been optimised to make use of the improved vibration motors in the device.

Verdict

The OnePlus 7 Pro proves worthy of all the hype and the rave reviews and delivers only the best. We would even say that the phone stands ahead of the likes of Samsung Galaxy S10e and the iPhone XR. In case you want to get your hands on a device with a price tag upwards of Rs 50,000, the OnePlus 7 Pro is undoubtedly the best phone out there.
