NOMU is all set to introduce its latest S30 mini with comprehensive specifications later this month. NOMU is known for previously releasing smartphones for rugged use, and the NOMU S30 too aims at the same. True to its name, the NOMU S30 mini is a smaller version of the S30, released recently.

In many ways, the S30 mini is the same as its predecessor - the S30, however, the new S30 mini comes with various features that put this phone in the spotlight. Some of those unique features include the waterproof USB port, the charging LED and smart gestures.

Rather than boasting of its specifications, NOMU seems to be stressing on how strong the S30 mini actually is by releasing a drop-test video. The video basically aims at showing how the S30 mini can withstand the most accidental of drops from any height and even survive severe weather conditions.

The NOMU S30 mini seems to successfully survive the drops in all circumstances, including being dropped in a water puddle.

The handset’s main selling point is that it is IP68 rated, meaning that it could very well survive being immersed in a 1.5m depth of water for at most 30 minutes. The company claims that you could even leave the phone underwater for up to two hours.

For a rugged phone, the S30 mini is sort of slim at 12.6mm thickness and sports a 4.7-inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch resistance. The NOMU S30 mini also fairs well on the hardware side with its enhanced quad-core MediaTek MTK6737T SoC, clocked at 1.5GHz. The device comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. There is an 8MP Sony primary camera along with a 2MP front shooter.

Just like the NOMU S30, the new S30 mini is also dual-SIM compatible, and it runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/AGPS, and 4G LTE support. This tough handset is backed by an equally tough 3,000mAh Li-Po battery equipped with 5V 2A quick charging technology. This panel is further protected by a Carbon Fiber battery cover that makes the phone foolproof.
