Nokia 6.2 With Hole Punch Camera and Snapdragon 632 SoC Rumoured to Launch Soon

Follow Us

It has been a year since the Nokia 6.1 or Nokia 6 (2018) arrived and we all are waiting for the successor to come. While HMD Global is tight-lipped on Nokia 6.2 or Nokia 6 (2019), a new rumour on the web says the phone will be launching soon, possibly by January end or in February. Like its predecessors, the Nokia 6.2 will also be launched in China first, followed by the global launch at a later date, could be at the Mobile World Congress 2019. We all know that 2018 was the year of notched display smartphones, but in 2019, we got a new trend- hole punch cameras- the tech which we've already seen on Huawei Nova 4, Honor View 20 (launching on January 29 in India) and Samsung Galaxy A8s. HMD Global is also said to be working on various smartphones with hole punch cameras including the Nokia 8.1 Plus and the Nokia 6.2. Earlier today renders of the Nokia 8.1 Plus surfaced online, and now, tipster going by name- Nokia_Leaks suggests the Nokia 6.2 will also have a hole punch camera.

Nokia 6.2 or Nokia 6 (2019): What We Know So Far

As noted, Nokia_Leaks revealed this news about Nokia 6.2 on Twitter. The same tipster had previously tipped about various upcoming Nokia phones and most of them were accurate. Even Nokia_Leaks suggested the Nokia 9 launch will happen in January, which could become true. Moving onto the Nokia 6.2, the phone is said to rock a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display on the front with a hole punch camera, meaning the phone will not sport a notch, instead, it will have a hole on display for the front-facing camera. If you still can't understand what exactly is Hole Punch Camera, then you should check out the Honor View 20 images on the web.

The usage of hole punch camera will result in high screen-to-body ratio, although don't expect the bezels to be as thin as the ones on the iPhone XS or XS Max. The Nokia 6.2 or Nokia 6 (2019) will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC, which is completely alright since its predecessor arrived with Snapdragon 630 chipset on board. The phone will come in 4GB, 6GB RAM variants.

As for the cameras, it's said the Nokia 6.2 would have dual-rear Zeiss shooters with a 16MP primary sensor. The secondary sensor could be a depth sensing one as seen on the Nokia 6.1 or Nokia 6 (2018). The upcoming phone will also have OZO Audio support. It will surely run Android 9 Pie out of the box.

Besides this, we don't have any information related to Nokia 6.2. As noted above, the phone will be first launched in China by the end of this month or in early February. But it's expected that HMD will unveil the phone before the MWC 2019.

HMD Global is Unstoppable at the Moment

Back at the MWC 2018 event last year, HMD Global said that all the Android-powered Nokia smartphones would be part of the Android One programme, which came as surprising news for many. The apparent worry which everyone had was: will HMD keep up the promise of faster software updates with growing product portfolio? Well, the company answered them all in style.

Till date, HMD has eight smartphones running the latest Android 9 Pie software, which is extraordinary, to say the least. Nokia smartphones running Android 9 Pie are Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 8, Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 8 Sirocco. It's expected that older Nokia phones will also receive the update sooner.
