Motorola Moto Z2 Force is now getting the Android 9 Pie update in India. Lenovo-owned Motorola has silently started pushing Android Pie update to its last flagship smartphone in India, the Moto Z2 Force. Motorola says the update was pushed on July 17, 2019, and the owners of Moto Z2 Force are now noticing the update pop-up notification on their handsets. To recall, the Moto Z2 Force was announced in India at the start of 2018 with a price tag of Rs 34,999 and it arrived with Android 8.0 Oreo on board. Later on, in some markets, the company rolled out Android 8.1 Oreo update. The phone was originally launched in the US way back in July 2017, and back then, it came with Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box. The Moto Z2 Force arrived a bit later to the Indian market which is the reason why it came with Android Oreo out of the box.
Moto Z2 Force Android 9 Pie Update: What's New?
Motorola did not reveal any detailed changelog of the update. The new version for the Moto Z2 Force comes with the PPX29.159-19 build number and it weighs over 1.2GB in size. Highlights of this major update for the Moto Z2 Force include all the Android 9 Pie features, June 2019 security patches and bug fixes. As you might be aware of, the Moto Z2 Force runs a clean version of stock Android, so there won't be any new features besides what Google introduced with Android 9 Pie. Of course, Motorola will add its own gestures and some other small features to enhance the user experience.
For the unaware, Android 9 Pie was released by Google nearly a year ago and it's sad to see a company like Motorola rolling out the update to its flagship smartphone almost a year later. Nevertheless, in August 2018, Motorola said other smartphones like the Moto Z3, Moto Z3 Play, Moto Z2 Play, Moto G6 Play, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 and Moto X4 would receive Android 9 Pie update. At the moment, it's unknown when these phones will get the update in India though, but the company is promising an Android iterative update, which is a good thing.
Android 9 Pie Features Detailed
Aforesaid, Google introduced Android 9 Pie last year with much fanfare. The key features of Android 9 Pie include gestural navigation, new recent apps screen, app actions, app slices, Digital Wellbeing, adaptive brightness, adaptive battery, improved Do Not Disturb mode, better notification management and a slew of other features.
Android 9 Pie will soon be succeeded by Android Q which doesn't bring many features to the table, but there are some handy ones to know about. First of all, Google is revamping the entire gestural navigation on Android Q and it now feels like the iOS gesture navigation. Android Q will also bring the much-awaited Dark Mode, which will help the users in saving battery life. Google is expected to release Android Q update to Pixel smartphones sometime in the second half of August.
