The Calendar in Xiaomi’s custom mobile skin MIUI has received a new update which will allow the users to export the birthdays of their friends on Facebook on to their MIUI Calendar application. This new feature will enable the users to remember their friends’ birthdays without needing them to log in to their Facebook account in order to check for birthday notifications.

MIUI Calendar Integration for Importing Friends’ Birthdays

Keeping in mind how useful Facebook is for remembering friends’ birthdays, Xiaomi has developed this new feature for the Calendar app in MIUI to help the users in importing their Facebook friends’ birthdays onto the MIUI Calendar app on their phone. Undoubtedly, with so many social media platforms, and the increased number of social circles in today’s time, it’s hard for people to remember their friends’ birthdays and catch up on time. Facebook’s birthday reminders have been immensely useful when it comes to this task. However, these reminders remain limited to the Facebook app and its desktop site only. Meaning when you log out of Facebook or remove the Facebook app from your phone, you can no longer stay updated with your friends’ birthdays.

How to Import Birthdays from Facebook to MIUI Calendar

To change this, Xiaomi’s new feature in the Calendar application will import the birthdays of your friends and it will store them on the phone for reminding them of you in future. To turn on this functionality and to import the birthdays, users can simply open the MIUI Calendar application and then tap on the ‘import birthdays from Facebook’ button. If the tab is not visible upfront when users open the Calendar app, then they can directly navigate to the settings section on their MIUI Calendar to find the Import Facebook birthdays button and turn on the functionality from there.

How to Get Reminders for Birthdays

Users won’t have to do anything else to receive notifications about their friends’ birthdays. Like other events or reminders in their MIUI Calendar application, the Calendar app will display the notification and send a reminder to the users at an appropriate time whenever a birthday of the user’s friend comes up.

The thing to note here is that this functionality presently remains limited to MIUI’s Beta version of the ROM. Although, the feature is soon expected to show up on the stable releases as well.
