The Chinese phone manufacturer Meizu today unveiled a trio of phones - the Meizu 15, Meizu 15 Plus and the Meizu 15 Lite. The phones are so named as a way to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the company. All three phones come featured with Samsung-sourced Super AMOLED screens with 16:9 aspect ratio, bucking the trend of popular 18:9 displays. Meizu might not bring these smartphones to the Indian market anytime soon. The flagship Meizu 15 Plus comes with Samsung's Exynos 8895 SoC, followed by the Meizu 15 and 15 Lite devices with Snapdragon mid-range processors. The Meizu 15 houses the Snapdragon 660 SoC, while the smaller 15 Lite comes with Snapdragon 626 SoC. Read on to know more about the three phones.
Meizu 15 Plus
The high powered Meizu 15 Plus comes with a huge 5.95-inch screen, sporting an AMOLED panel with Quad HD resolution. Under the hood, the phone is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8895 octa-core SoC made on 10nm process, paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage options. It is the same powerful chipset that powers the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 smartphones.
The Meizu 15 Plus packs a dual lens camera setup on the rear. There is a primary 12MP sensor with a wide-angle lens, whereas the secondary is a 20MP sensor with a telephoto lens for up to 3X lossless zoom. The camera features OIS, EIS, multi-frame noise reduction and HDR algorithms. The selfie camera is a 20 MP shooter.
The Meizu 15 Plus is powered by a 3500mAh battery along with USB Type-C port and fast charging feature. The device will be available in Black and Gold colour options.
Meizu 15
The standard Meizu 15 comes with a 5.46-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD display resolution. Powering this model is Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC made on 14nm process, which carries an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 512 GPU. The device is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB and 128GB storage options.
The device cameras are similar to the Meizu 15 Plus with one exception. It comes with same 12MP + 20MP dual setup, but there is no EIS only OIS. There is a 3000mAh power battery, and the phone runs Flyme 7 based on Android 8.0 Oreo. The phone comes in White, Black, Blue, and Gold colour options.
Meizu 15 Lite
The Meizu 15 Lite was announced separately from the other two models, and will not be available in China. It is similar to the Meizu 15 carrying the same 5.46-inch with 1080p resolution, but it’s an LTPS LCD instead of OLED. Under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 chipset, with octa-core CPU of Cortex A53 cores and Adreno 506 GPU. The device comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
In photography department, the Meizu 15 Lite gets a single 12MP camera (1.4 µm pixels) with f/1.9 aperture. It boasts Dual Pixel autofocus, which is a surprise. The device sports the same 20MP shooter on the front as on the other two models. The Lite is fuelled by a 3000 mAh battery charged over with an 18W (9V at 2A) mCharge charger.
Meizu 15, 15 Plus and 15 Lite Pricing and Availability:
The Meizu 15 and 15 Plus will be available in China from April 29. The flagship 15 Plus starts from CNY 3,000 (approx. Rs 31,200) for the standard version whereas the Deluxe version ships at CNY 3,330 (approx. Rs 34,120). The Deluxe version comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The Meizu 15, on the other hand, will also be available from April 29 and it will retail for CNY 2,500 (approx. Rs 25,180) and CNY 2,800 (approx. Rs 28,913) for the variant with higher RAM and storage.
