What’s Next for Reliance Jio Customers After TRAI’s Recent Amendment on Jio Summer Surprise Offer?

Late yesterday, when everything’s going well, TRAI issued a statement on Reliance Jio stating that the new entrant has pulled back its Jio Summer Surprise offer, to everyone’s surprise. The company has taken this decision after a deep discussion with TRAI regarding the terms and conditions violation by the offer.

So, Jio will now discontinue the Summer Surprise plan. However, the company clearly stated that the customers who have already enrolled in the plan would enjoy the plan benefits for four months, as promised earlier at the time of the announcement. And today, Jio issued another statement saying that users can enjoy the benefits till they issue the offer discontinuation statement officially, giving a hint to users to recharge with the plan immediately.

Also, Reliance Jio started pushing notifications via MyJio app for users saying that they can enjoy the services if they recharge quickly. But the real question still remains - what’s next for users of Jio after the discontinuation of Jio Summer Surprise plan?

Well, Jio has pulled down only the summer offer, but they haven’t changed the deadline of JioPrime subscription plan. Jio customers can enroll the JioPrime membership of Rs. 99 till April 15. But, here’s a catch. None of the recharge portals including the company’s MyJio app doesn’t have a separate recharge plan of Rs. 99 to recharge just the JioPrime membership plan. So, it’s obvious that Jio is forcing users to recharge with the bundled plans of Rs. 402 and Rs. 598 plans.

As of now, there’s no estimated timeline for Jio’s suspension of the plan, and the official statement read that the company requires some time to discontinue the plan fully. Mukesh Ambani, back in February announced the JioPrime membership plan with attractive tariff plans. That said, once Jio completely suspends the summer surprise plan; users have to rely on the JioPrime plans, which are already live.

Users have to recharge with either the Rs. 303 or Rs. 499 plan to enjoy the services of 1GB and 2GB data per day, along with unlimited voice calls. There are other JioPrime plans as well starting at just Rs. 19 and going up to Rs. 9999.

All said the scenario is simple for now, get the recharge done at the earliest to get the free services for four months at just Rs. 402 or Rs. 598. Or else, get the recharge done every month under the JioPrime membership for normal tariff plans.
