So, are you the one who thought of accessing the best speed with that premium 4G pack, but still struggling to experience a higher speed? Well, you are not the only one cribbing about it in the crowd, but a lot of customers today complain about getting lower speeds even at premium packs.

Keeping all these factors in mind, All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) has started off an awareness drive for consumers as well for its members – the retailers – on what a ‘True 4G’ experience constitutes and which technology is necessary to have ‘True 4G’.

“There are complaints about lower speeds even in premium data packs and we can definitely raise our voice against it. The service providers hardly provide the speed they advertise and by making consumers aware about the latest technologies and the right speed they should get at a certain pack, the industry can upscale itself,” says AIMRA President Arvinder Khurana.

Most of the times, the consumers are also ignorant about the data packs they are using and this ignorance leads to a hole in their pockets. And, of course at times service providers don’t adhere to their promises and in such cases we want to represent the voice of the consumers.

4G adoption is going to be rampant in the country with the entry of telecom operator Reliance Jio’s pan-India 4G network. Meanwhile, a number of operators, including India’s number 1 player Bharti Airtel, are also focussing on their 4G network to brace up for the stiff competition ahead. Reliance Jio is expected to launch its pan-India 4G services in April this year. The telecom arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries had already launched its 4G services for its employees on December 27.

Through this campaign, AIMRA will also make retailers and consumers better informed about the key differentiators between VoLTE and non-VoLTE devices and the association also plans to conduct events, seminars, and live demonstrations for the retailers. The body will also make retailers and consumers familiar about True 4G credentials assured through technologies such as VoLTE, VoWi-Fi, and eMBMS.

Apart from the services part, the association will also educate consumers about the right handsets they should have for 4G. The campaign will help consumers to get the true 4G experience with the right device, which allows users to make voice calls in HD quality, have 7-way audio conferencing, make video calls and organize 4-way video conferencing, simultaneous talk and surf function, and make calls directly using the Wi-Fi connection.

Device makers such as LG, Lenovo, Micromax, LYF and Intex have started introducing VoLTE/VoWi-Fi-enabled 4G devices in the market while others are expected to join the club soon.

All India Mobile Retailers Association was formed two years ago to work for the benefits of offline retailers and prevent any time of carterlization among various companies. At present, they are raising their voice against the e-commerce players and pitching for a regulation for the segment.
