Yesterday, we reported that the newcomer Reliance Jio is India's leading telecom operator in the average download speed with speed touching 19.12 Mbps in April 2017. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the data recently. In the upload speed department, Reliance Jio is not the leading operator.
Idea Cellular, the country's third largest telecom operator with pan-India broadband footprint, has the highest average upload speed of 8.459 Mbps, which is followed by Vodafone India with 7.34 Mbps average upload speed. Reliance Jio's average upload speed increased a bit and reached 5.275 Mbps in April 2017. Bharti Airtel registered an average upload speed of 4.641 Mbps for the same period.
Both the Idea Cellular and Vodafone India are leading the average upload speed list from the past few months. Last month, Vodafone India occupied the first place with nearly 6.5 Mbps average upload speed, followed by Idea Cellular with 6.1 Mbps speed. But Idea has risen to the top of the list this month.
Even though Idea Cellular doesn't have a pan-India 4G coverage, these speeds are insane, especially dethroning the operators like Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. The company has aggregated nearly 13.7 Mbps average download speed.
After becoming the country's fastest upload speed network, Idea Cellular issued a statement. According to Mr Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer, Idea Cellular, “This is a strong testament to our continued focus on investing in mobile broadband infrastructure across the country. TRAI’s MySpeed result is an affirmation of the fact that Idea customers are hooked on to the internet – browsing rich content such as video download, music, gaming, live streaming, etc. – as narrated in our ad campaign ‘Idea 4G pe India hua Hook #LookLook’. The campaign establishes the width and expanse of Idea 4G network across India, through a simple thought, ‘Idea 4G - India jitna bada network’.”
As said earlier, Idea Cellular recently completed its pan-India mobile broadband roll out. However, the company does not offer 4G LTE services in Kolkata and New Delhi. Idea recently launched its 4G Services in Mumbai using 2100 MHz band.
