Idea Cellular has recently announced that it has achieved an unprecedented milestone in the history of the circle by recording a total of over 2 crore subscribers, recently.
Idea also became the only operator to grow its Revenue Market Share (RMS) in the circle, by over 2 percentage points in a year to 31.4%, in Q1FY15.
To mark the occasion, Idea also launched a campaign highlighting over 2 Crore mobile consumers of the states of Maharashtra & Goa joining the ‘Most Trusted Network’ on its 3G enabled network.
Speaking on the achievement Mr. Ambrish Jain, Deputy Managing Director, Idea Cellular said, “Maharashtra & Goa circle is one of the highest revenue grosser for the telecom sector in India, and contributes largest share of revenue for Idea. Our operations in the circle is greater in terms of revenue, and subscribers, than the full service operations of most regional operators in India. The steady growth in our leading market will provide a thrust to the overall revenue growth for Idea.”

Idea has the widest 2G and 3G network in the circle comprising of 15000 sites covering more than 6200 towns and villages. To enhance its service and distribution for superior customer experience, Idea has expanded its network of service centres to 860 in the circle.

Idea Cellular has consistently invested in the market by acquiring more spectrum in 2100 MHz and 1800 MHz bands in the spectrum auctions in the last three years, and network expansion. It won 5 MHz of contiguous 1800 MHz spectrum for Maharashtra circle earlier this year, giving it the ability to launch 4G services at an appropriate juncture in future. It is now the only operator to be able to seamlessly offer all three mobility technologies - GSM, 3G, and 4G services in the state, in the coming years.
