How to Change Channel and Bouquet Selection on Tata Sky Website and App

The DTH industry in India has been undergoing a lot of changes this year, and the driving factor behind these changes are the new rules that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has introduced for the DTH subscribers. Because of these new regulatory changes and with the implementation of the new Trai tariff regime, the subscribers had to shift to a new framework which allowed the subscribers to choose the channels to their liking so that they would only pay for the channels that they were watching and nothing extra. Although the new regulatory regime ended up making the monthly subscriptions a little more pricey for a lot of subscribers, the consumers did get the transparency and the freedom to choose and customise their channel selection for their DTH subscription. However, the thing to note here is that there are a lot of DTH operators in the Indian DTH industry and the channel selection method for all the operators differs based on the methods they allow for selecting channels. Today, we take a look at how Tata Sky subscribers can select channels for their subscription.

How Does the New Pricing Method Work?

Before we move on to the selection of channels, it is imperative to know how the channel pricing works in the DTH industry currently as per the new rules prescribed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai). As per the new Trai tariff regime, the bill of the subscribers will be divided into two parts. While the first part would be of Network Capacity Fee (NCF) which will be charged by the DTH operator for carrying the channels, the second part would consist of the pay channel charges charged by the broadcasters. The pay channel costs would be zero for the FTA (Free to Air) channels, whereas it would not be more than Rs 19 for the other pay channels. The base NCF price given by Trai for the subscribers is Rs 153 including taxes for the first 100 SD channels, and on top of that, the subscribers will have to pay Rs 20 for additional 25 channels.

Steps for Tata Sky Subscribers to Change Their Channel Selection

The first method by which the subscribers of Tata Sky can select their channels is by going on to the Tata Sky website. For this, the subscribers will have to go to the Tata Sky official website in which, they would be able to find the banner for channel selection. Clicking on this will take you to a log in page in which you will be required to type in your registered phone number. You will receive an OTP on your registered phone number for login. Alternatively, you can also decide to log on to the website if you have a password for your Tata Sky account previously.

After you have logged in, you will be met with a screen which will give you three options to choose from. These options would include Recommended Packs, Tata Sky packs and all packs. Out of all of these options, you can opt for the recommended packs or the Tata Sky packs to save some money. Or else, you will also have the option to scrolling down to the bottom where you will be able to see the a-la-carte channels too. Another way the subscribers will be able to change their channel selection is by logging in through the My Tata Sky app on Android and iOS. When you select your channels, in the end, you will be asked to confirm your selection before you proceed with the final selection. At the same time, you would also be able to see the monthly subscription amount which you will have to pay here on.
