Honor, at its unveiling event in China, not only announced the Honor 10 but also revealed a new lightweight notebook. The new laptop which Honor is calling as the MagicBook is only being released in China presently. The high-performance laptop features minimal bezels, sleek design and seeks to do all of this at a very affordable price point. Honor is a brand which has been known for focusing heavily on the design of its gadgets. This time also the company has designed the MagicBook with a focus on looks while also not compromising on the performance. The new laptop is being said to be inspired somewhat by Apple’s MacBook series of laptops.

The MagicBook will be available in three colours - Glacier Silver, Star Grey and Nebula Purple and will ship with a 14-inch FHD display with 5.2mm thick borders that will make up for 80% screen. The dimensions of the laptop also remain slim with the MagicBook only weighing 1.45 kg. The backlit keyboard has 1.3mm travel. The laptop has been designed in such a way that it allows 180 degrees opening and closing of the lid. For the audio, the speakers have been placed on either side of the keyboard.

Like we said, the Honor MagicBook does not compromise on the performance for the aesthetics and ships with the latest 8th gen Intel Core i7-8550U Processor based on a 14nm process. The laptop is also efficient in maintaining a high frame rate thanks to the Nvidia MX150 GPU with 2GB of GDDR5 memory which also helps the machine in delivering 4x performance in graphics. A powerful processor also needs an equally powerful cooling mechanism for which Honor has developed flame-designed groove with large fans which creates a “canyon-effect” to drain heat out of the laptop, away from the processor.

The Honor MagicBook also has a similar battery backup to the Macbook. The 57.4Wh battery allows for 1080p video playback for up to 12 hours on the laptop. The MagicBook runs on Windows 10 and houses useful functionalities like the Magic Link that will automatically lock or unlock the computer depending on the location of the linked phone. The laptop also offers a fingerprint sensor which also functions as the power button and boots up the machine in just 7.6 seconds. The four speakers on the MagicBook have been powered by Dolby Atmos sound for a clear audio-visual experience.

The MagicBook will sell in China in two variants. The less pricey version will house Intel i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and will retail for CNY 4,999 (approx Rs 52,300). The second and the top model will ship with Intel i7 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage will cost CNY 5,699 (approx Rs 59,700). Just like the Honor 10, there has been no news regarding the Indian launch of the MagicBook. However, in China the laptop is up for pre-order starting today, i.e. April 19. The sale of the laptop starts on April 23.
