Google launched its third generation Pixel phones in October this year. These phones were the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. It looks like Google has more plans of launching smartphones this year. The company is reportedly planning to launch mid-range Pixel phones for the first time. After the Nexus 5X which was launched back in 2015, this is the first time that Google has decided to bring phones for the masses. These mid-range phones will be toned down versions of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. These phones are said to be called the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite.
A lot has already been revealed and talked about these two Lite Pixel phones. But now some details regarding the launch of these phones are coming out. According to a new report, the Pixel 3 Lite and the Pixel 3 XL Lite will be launching in Spring 2019, that is around April and May. This launch timeline is for the U.S but considering Google usually launches its Pixel phones in India at the same time as the Global rollout we expect the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite to come to India around April or May next year.
Pixel 3 Lite Devices Launch Likely in May
The launch information of the Pixel 3 Lite and the Pixel 3 XL Lite comes from sources close Android Police. The website noted, “Speaking to a source familiar with the company's plans, we've learned that Google intends to launch two new Pixel smartphones on Verizon in early spring 2019 - the Pixel 3 and 3 XL "Lite”. Last month pictures and specs of the Pixel 3 Lite were leaked online which revealed a lot of key information about the phone.
Overall, the Pixel 3 Lite will be a toned down version of the Pixel 3 while the Pixel 3 XL Lite will be cut down version of the Pixel 3 XL. Both these Lite versions of the Pixel 3 models are said to come with the wide notch. Leaks reveal that the Pixel 3 Lite will come with a single camera on both the front and back side just as the Pixel. In fact, rumours also reveal that the phone will go at par with the Pixel 3 as far as the overall design of the phone is concerned. The rear panel of the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite are said to include a circular fingerprint sensor which will sit right below the camera setup.
Pixel 3 Lite, Pixel 3 XL Lite: Specifications and Features
As far as the rumoured specs are concerned, the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL are expected to launch with the latest Android 9 Pie software out-of-the-box. The leaked specs sheet of the Pixel 3 Lite has revealed that the phone will come with a 5.56-inch Full HD+ IPS display. The screen on the phone is said to have a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels and aspect ratio of 18.5:9. On the hardware front, the Pixel 3 Lite might be powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 or Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. On the camera front the Pixel 3 Lite is said to similar to the Pixel 3 this means the phone might sport 12MP camera paired with an LED flash on the rear panel and an 8MP camera for clicking selfies. The spec-sheet also reveal that the Pixel 3 Lite will come with a 2915mAh battery coupled with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ support. There will also be a headphone jack.
