You will now be able to invite anyone for a video chat on Google Hangouts, even the ones without a Google account

Google has now opened doors for the users, who don't have a Google account, to join video chats on Hangouts. Well, this is one good step, as not everybody has a Google account, right? Thanks to Google, we will now be able to video chat with anyone on Hangouts, without any account constraints.

Guest access hangouts

Hangout users will just be required to send out a video-chat invite to the person they want to chat with, and the invite link will redirect the guest to the video chat. They will just be asked to enter their name to start the chat. However, this does not lift the requirement of a Google account for the person who is hosting the chat. The chat organizer will also have the authority to add, mute, and eject the participants from the chat.

In an official blog post, Google said,”Starting today, we’re making this feature even more useful by removing the requirement that guests have a Google account in order to join a Hangouts video call. Here’s how it works: guests without a Google account who have been provided with the video call link by the organizer will be asked to provide their name and then request to join the call,”

With this step, we hope Google manages to increase its Hangouts user base. We think that it will be easier for users to adopt the platform as a good video-conferencing option. Maybe a good alternative to a rival chatting platform such as the FaceTime, which is limited to Apple users.
