Mukesh Ambani-led 4G telco Reliance Jio has come up with a clarification over Trai's order which limits its promotional offer till December 3, 2016, and said that its subscribers will continue to get the benefits of free unlimited voice and data under the "Welcome Offer" till December 31 2016.
It however said that the promotional offer, namely, Welcome Offer, will be available to all the new customers for subscription till December 3, 2016. Jio, in a statement, said that consumers, who cannot subscribe to the its services till December 3 2016 will continue getting opportunities to avail new offers and tariff plans from the company.
"RJIL aspires to provide the experience of Jio Digital life to all Indians and to achieve this it will continue coming up with more consumer friendly offers and plans to enhance the consumer experience," the telco said in a statement issued late Thursday.
The country's telecommunications regulator Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), had earlier said that Jio's revised offer of free services, limits the 90 days offer to December 3, 2016.
Jio said that it has received communication from the TRAI stating that the tariff plans offered by it are fully compliant with regulatory norms of IUC compliance, non-predatory and non-discriminatory.
"This clearly establishes the fact that all the tariffs offered by RJIL are in compliance with the prevailing regulations. A key feature of RJIL’s tariff packs is free voice calling for Local, STD and National roaming for all times," the telco said.
The regulator, in a letter to all GSM telcos, had said that Jio's revised offer of free services is now consistent with guidelines on promotional offers.
