BSNL Offering 2.5GB Data Per Day for 30 Days at Rs 241

The state-owned telco, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has recently revised its STV plan of Rs 241 as part of a promotional offer. This way, the government led telco plans on countering other competitors like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel after this revision. What’s notable is that the telco has increased the benefits of this plan by more than 10x, which is something surprising. However, the only drawback that BSNL users might feel is the data only facility in this plan. Unlike other combo plans present in the market right now, BSNL is offering only data benefits and no calling and SMS benefits as part of this STV. After the revision, the STV now ships 75GB 2G/3G data to BSNL subscribers for 30 days validity, as opposed to the usual 28 days validity of the BSNL offerings.

BSNL Data STV 241 Benefits Post Revision

Earlier, the STV 241 used to offer only 7GB data to the subscribers for the entire validity period. Now the plan is going to ship whopping 75GB data for 30 days, meaning that BSNL is providing 2.5GB data per day. Since it is a data STV, the Rs 241 plan will only offer 2G or 3G data to the subscribers and no calling or SMS benefits. The promotional offer for this STV has gone live on September 10, and it will be valid until December 5, 2018.

Another benefit worth noting is the revision has been made by BSNL on a promotional basis and the new benefits will become effective from September 10, 2018, and will expire on December 5, 2018. BSNL will decide at the end of promotional period whether to extend the plan for another 90 days or to offer the plan with its old benefits. Usually, if BSNL gets enough demand for the plan, it will extend it further on a promotional basis. At the moment, BSNL has made this change only in Kerala circle, but other circle authorities might announce the same revision in the next few days.

BSNL Data STV 241 vs BSNL Data STV 198

BSNL is also offering another Data STV of Rs 198 which also gives 2GB data per day for a period of 28 days. Earlier, the same STV 198 offered 2.5GB data per day for 24 days, but now, the plan has been revised to give 2GB data every day. However, the validity of the plan has been extended to 28 days from the earlier 24 days. As you can clearly see, the STV 241 plan gives slightly better data benefit and comes with 30 days validity, which justifies the additional asking price when compared to STV 198.

BSNL is Now Bundling 1.5GB Data With STV 27

Alongside the revision to STV 241 and STV 198, the government-owned PSU also revised the entry-level STV 27 to offer better data benefit. With the Rs 27 data-only plan in Kerala, BSNL is now offering 1.5GB of 2G/3G data for a period of three days, not 28 days. The STV 27 is a suitable plan for users looking for a data-only plan for a limited period.

BSNL to Launch 4G Services Very Soon

Earlier today, BSNL has received the approval from DoT for acquiring 4G airwaves in the 2100Mhz spectrum. This essentially means that BSNL will launch 4G services across the nation in the next few weeks. BSNL has been trying to acquire 4G airwaves since quite some time, but the telco has finally received the approval from the government. It will be interesting to see how BSNL prices its 4G plans in the country.
