Bharti Airtel Brings Rs 289 Prepaid Plan With 1GB Data and Unlimited Calling Benefits

In order to compete with rival telcos, Bharti Airtel has introduced a new prepaid recharge of Rs 289 which offers benefits for 48 days. Vodafone India introduced a Rs 279 prepaid recharge sometime back with 84 days validity for select users. Airtel’s plan is aimed at voice calling users as the data benefit is very minimal at 1GB for the entire validity period. Overall, the Rs 289 prepaid recharge from Airtel ships with unlimited local, STD and national roaming voice calling, 1GB of 4G/3G/2G data and 100 SMS per day for a period of 48 days. On the other hand, Vodafone’s plan comes with the same unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day benefits, but a user gets 4GB of data and the validity of the plan is also way better at 84 days.

Bharti Airtel Rs 289 Prepaid Plan Details

Talking about the benefits of this newly introduced Rs 289 prepaid plan by Bharti Airtel, it offers unlimited voice calls- local, STD and roaming calls for the entire validity period. Alongside voice calling, the plan provides 1GB of 2G/3G/4G data and 100 SMS per day. The best of this plan is it’s an open market one, and there’s no limit on voice calling. These benefits are valid for a period of 48 days. Also, this plan is applicable to every Airtel user irrespective of which handset they are using.

Idea Cellular Rs 295 Prepaid Plan Details

As mentioned above, Airtel introduced the Rs 289 open market plan to take on Idea Cellular’s Rs 295 prepaid plan which is also an open market plan available in circles such as Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, etc. With its Rs 295 plan, Idea is giving unlimited voice calls which will be capped to 250 minutes per day, 1000 minutes per week. The same plan also offers 5GB of 2G/3G/4G data and 100 SMS per day for a period of 42 days.

While Airtel is offering unlimited voice calls, Idea Cellular is limited the voice calls to 250 minutes per day, 1000 minutes per week and the calls can only be made to 100 unique numbers during the validity period.

Bharti Airtel Rs 289 Plan vs Idea Cellular Rs 295 Plan

If we compare both the plans from Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular, Airtel’s plan is ahead of Idea Cellular in terms of voice calling benefit, but Idea is way ahead of Airtel in the data benefit. Airtel is giving a total of 1GB data for 48 days, while Idea is giving 5GB of data for 42 days. Airtel’s plan also has an advantage in the validity aspect.

Bharti Airtel Also Has a Rs 299 Voice Only Plan

Alternatively, Bharti Airtel also has a Rs 299 prepaid plan, which offers unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit for 45 days. In every aspect, Airtel’s newly launched Rs 289 plan is better than the Rs 299 plan because it offers SMS and data benefit too, but the Rs 299 plan is a voice-only plan.

Bharti Airtel Rs 289 Plan vs Reliance Jio Rs 299 Plan

Since the start of 2018, Reliance Jio is offering a Rs 299 prepaid plan with calling, data and SMS benefits for 28 days. But Jio’s plan is a monthly plan, unlike the plans from Airtel and Idea Cellular. Jio is giving a total of 3GB data per day, unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit and 100 SMS per day for 28 days. On the whole, Jio is offering a total of 84GB 4G data with its Rs 299 plan, way better than Airtel and Idea Cellular’s offering.

Foolish response by jio network person via call :
Insert in SIM 1 slot to get good coverage ???.

4G will work in SIM 1 and SIM 2 of all 4G handsets (but 4G will be active in only one SIM at a time). That illiterate does not even know that.

Blind jio supporters must answer this.

@Thamilan da: First of all you need to understand that Jio Customer care person has to strictly follow the call process(beta testing) that is designed by jio. If the troubleshooting steps(article) which he is referring to says that jio sim should be inserted in 1st sim slot for better connectivity, then he needs to say the same resolution which is showing up on the computer screen. If in case he deviates the process and then that call gets audited by QA assigned by the client jio then it will cost penalty for the third party company for whom the jio… Read more »

Dear, this stupid response from customer care is common to all the operators. I got this type of response from AVOID also. Not only that, once when I asked an airtel customer care executive about my porting request status, then he again and again asked me about the handset which I am using… at least I don’t know is porting has any relation with handset model. Before completion of porting and without inserting the new sim in handset, where is the role of handset? Actually most of the customer care executives of all operators thinks that customers are illiterate and… Read more »

Exactly, atleast idea and Vodafone are competing better than this chorTel. I don’t know why cartel removed even 99 plan replacing with 119.

Even before Jio Vodafone was better. On this number, Vodafone gave me full TT on recharge of 35 or 31 sometimes and 500 MB 2G data for 30 days @28 Rs. Customer specific offer back in 2015-16 before Jio.
