Bharti Airtel, the country's leading telecom operator, has rolled out “Airtel Dialer”, a new feature in its myAirtel app, for some of its users in the country, and is offering free 50 Airtel-to-Airtel local and STD voice calling minutes.
The new feature has been added for Android users as part of myAirtel app update. The new feature can be launched by updating the myAirtel application. After the new update, myAirtel app creates a standalone icon for the new feature, which customers can also make their default phone dialer. The update is currently available to a few prepaid and postpaid users in the country.
The new dialer feature could be aimed at luring Airtel customers into downloading myAirtel app. Prepaid users that download the application can also get 5GB free night data via myJackpot.
“Manage you calls Manage your calls efficiently, get free calling minutes and enjoy seamless dialing experience,” an updated myAirtel app notification read.
Reliance Jio, the Mukesh Ambani-led 4G telecom operator, already offers a dialer application, called Jio4GVoice, which enables non-VoLTE smartphones to make VoLTE calls in the country. TrueCaller and Nimbuzz-owned Hola! apps also offer dialer feature through their respective applications to customers.
Bharti Airtel had earlier added a cloud storage feature, called Airtel Backup, in its myAirtel app for certain users in India. It is offering 2GB of free cloud storage, which allows Airtel users to store documents, audio, video, photos, call history, contacts etc for free.
