HMD Global has been very quick lately about releasing updates for its phones. Given that all Nokia devices now come with Android One certification, the devices receive monthly security updates and quick Android updates. Out of all the phone being offered by HMD Global, the Nokia 3 is one of the popular offerings from Nokia which was released back in February 2017. The phone comes with a 5-inch HD screen, 2GB RAM, 2,630mAh battery, and MediaTek’s MT6737 SoC. The phone also bears a budget oriented price tag thus making it an attractive offering for low range phone buyers of that time. When the phone was released in early 2017, it came with Android 7 Nougat, later in April, the device received the update carrying Android 8.0 Oreo. However, now HMD Global has released another update for Nokia 3, bumping up the software to Android 8.1 Oreo.

Android 8.1 Oreo Update for Nokia 3
Besides updating the Android version of the phone, the new package also brings the December security patch on-board as well. The changelog of the latest update for the Nokia 3 also lists new features like the revamped power menu, new Settings, battery indicator for Bluetooth connected devices, and improved system stability. Although many might point out that Android 8.1 Oreo is a bit dated for smartphones out there, but for the users of this phone it will be a good bump as Nokia is staying true to its commitment. Another thing to keep in mind is that HMD Global had also promised the release of Android 9.0 Pie for Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8, so, this is not the end of the version update streak for the device. This new Android build which is the version 4.42D comes in a 1.8GB package size and is being rolled out to the users currently.
