WhatsApp will now label the 'Forwarded Messages' on the platform, which means that if a message is forwarded from a user, it will be labelled as 'Forwarded.' To see this new Forwarded label on WhatsApp, you have to install the latest supported version of WhatsApp on your smartphone. The instant messaging company introduced this feature to reduce the spam messages forwarding. In India, there are several instances that a spam message goes viral in a matter of minutes, and with this new labelling message, WhatsApp wants a user to think before sharing a message, and that's a good thing.

"Starting today, WhatsApp will indicate which messages you receive have been forwarded to you. This extra context will help make one-on-one and group chats easier to follow. It also helps you determine if your friend or relative wrote the message they sent or if it originally came from someone else," said WhatsApp in a blog post.

Aforesaid, this move from WhatsApp is to curb spam and it even stated as "WhatsApp cares deeply about your safety. We encourage you to think before sharing messages that were forwarded. As a reminder, you can report spam or block a contact in one tap and can always reach out to WhatsApp directly for help."

WhatsApp is often in the news in recent times due to the fake news, and in India, the issue has been there since ages. Spammers spread the fake news with clickbait links such as 'Get a Smartphone at 90% off', and people fell into that prey easily. WhatsApp believes that most of the people are just forwarding such messages and has now come up with this labelling forwarded messages feature.

In other news, WhatsApp is also working on a new 'Spam Link Detection' feature which will scan the link you received, and if the server finds it as suspicious, it will give a warning as the link is suspicious, don't open it.
