Xiaomi continues to break records in the Indian smartphone market. The Chinese company which is also the country’s leading smartphone brand with 31% market share has now announced that the Redmi Note 5 series have crossed 5 million sales within four months of launch. The Redmi Note 5 series in India includes the standard Redmi Note 5 and the premium Redmi Note 5 Pro. Xiaomi, however, did not reveal which smartphone did better. “We believe it’s the fastest selling phone series in India to cross the 5 million mark in the given time across all platforms,” said Xiaomi in a press statement.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro back on February 14 in India. In the first sale itself, the company sold over 3 lakh units of both the smartphones. Earlier, Xiaomi sold both the handsets in flash sales, but later on, the Redmi Note 5 went on for open sale in the country. Xiaomi is still selling the Redmi Note 5 Pro in flash sale every week.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in India is available in a 3GB RAM/32GB storage option at Rs 9,999, whereas the 4GB RAM/64GB storage option is available for Rs 11,999. The Note 5 Pro’s base variant with 4GB RAM/64GB storage can be picked up for Rs 14,999, whereas the 6GB RAM variant is available for Rs 16,999. Initially, the Note 5 Pro’s base variant was priced at Rs 13,999, but the price has been revised to Rs 14,999 later on.
