Xiaomi Sold Over 5 Million Units of Redmi Note 4 in India in Just Six Months

Xiaomi has become a de-facto budget smartphone brand in India at the moment. At least a single person in every family of India could be using any of the Xiaomi smartphones. Xiaomi had a great run in 2016 with its Redmi range of devices, and in 2017, the brand is having a dream run in the country.

A recent Counterpoint report revealed that Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Xiaomi Redmi 4 are the top shipped smartphones in Q2 2017. And today, Xiaomi India’s Lead Product Manager, Jai Mani, has posted on Twitter that the company has five million Redmi Note 4’s in India, since the launch of the device back in January 2017.This milestone further proclaims that 1 in every 4 smartphones sold online was a Redmi Note 4 during these months.

Xiaomi had achieved this milestone in just six months. Till date, Xiaomi has announced four smartphones in India in 2017- the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A, the Xiaomi Redmi 4, and the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. Besides the recently announced Mi Max 2, all the smartphones are still being sold in flash sales. The Redmi Note 4 is exclusively available on Flipkart, while the Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A are sold in Amazon India. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is sold in both offline and all the major online portals.

To commemorate this occasion, Xiaomi created world’s largest grain mosaic art spread across an area of 6,000 square feet at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi. The grain mosaic was measured and certified by Unique Surveyors, a leading land surveying company. 40,000 kilograms of food grains such as pulses, rice etc were obtained to create this mosaic which signifies Xiaomi to a large extent, as Xiaomi in English means millet which is a grain of rice.
