Earlier, there were reports of Google releasing its own brands of smartphones. Confirming the news, Android Police says that the search giant will call its branded phones as Pixel and the Pixel XL.
According to the anonymous sources cited by the report, Pixel will be a 5-inch Sailfish smartphone and Pixel XL will be 5.5-inch Marlin. Interestingly, the smartphones will be marketed as the first phones built by Google. Other specifications of the smartphones are not known, however, there were rumors about the storage, to be featuring 32GB and 128GB. The newbies are also expected to be Android Nougat-based and may integrate the new Google Assistant.
Earlier reports also anticipated the pricing of the devices claiming that they will be higher than the existing Nexus devices at launch. This would take the price tag of Pixel to Rs. 30,000 (approx.) and Pixel XL to be roughly around Rs. 40,000. Meanwhile, the future of Nexus seems bleak. The new products released from Google, such as the tablet Pixel, or the home device Google Home, doesn’t carry the Nexus branding. There is no announcement made as a replacement as well. This still stands dubious. The tech world has also not predicted any reason for the switch from Nexus to Pixel.
Besides the smartphones, Google is also slated to launch a new Chromecast capable of streaming 4K content. Dubbed as Chromecast Plus or Chromecast Ultra, the device is expected to be in launched on October 4.
