YotaPhone now retails at Rs 8,999 after another price cut in India

YotaPhone, the dual-display smartphone from Russia, received full marks in the innovation department, but lost out in actual sales. The smartphone comes with an always-on e-Ink display at the rear for having a quick glance at your notifications or important information like flight or movie tickets.

It was first launched in India through Flipkart for Rs, 23,999 in October 2014. After it failed to attract Indian buyers, its first price cut was announced in November 2014, after which it was available for Rs. 17,999. However, even the price cut couldn't help boost its sales, and its price dropped to Rs. 12,999 and then to Rs. 9,999 earlier this year. Now, after yet another price cut, the YotaPhone is retailing for Rs. 8,999 on Flipkart.

The smartphone also comes with gesture controls for the rear screen. Its successor, the YotaPhone 2 has already been announced globally, but the launch plans for India haven't been disclosed as of now. The first generation YotaPhone can be considered as an utter flop in the country, and that might hamper the launch plans of the second generation YotaPhone. Howevr, at a price of Rs 8,999, the YotaPhone comes across as a pretty value-for-money deal, so you might want to consider this one as the choice of a sub-Rs. 10,000 smartphone.
