A month after launching the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 in the country, Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy A7 in India today for Rs. 30,499. The sleek metal-clad smartphone is available for purchase from the company's official online retail channel, Samsung India eStore, in three colours; white, gold, and midnight blue.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 features a 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, microSD card slot, 4G LTE connectivity, and 2,600 mAh battery. On the imaging front, the device is equipped with a 13-megapixel primary camera with 1080p video recording, and a 5-megapixel front-facing secondary camera. Samsung had also reaffirmed last month that the Galaxy A series smartphones would be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop very soon.

However, at a price of Rs. 30,499, the Galaxy A7 competes with some of the company's own smartphones such as the Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy Alpha's price was dropped from the original launch price of Rs. 39,900 to Rs. 26,990 last week. If Samsung drops the price of the Galaxy A7 to Rs. 25,000, it would be a good choice to users who want a slim metal smartphone with dual-SIM connectivity.
