Alright people, the Moto E is here and it has come to the party with a price tag that will spoil the party for many. The Moto E has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 6,999 and the smartphone has a price tag that will help Motorola repeat the success of the Moto G in the budget segment. Here is a list of three smartphones that are expected to face the heat from the launch of the Moto G as they come across as its prime competitors.

Nokia X (Rs 6,799)

Nokia had launched its first budget android based smartphone with the hopes of making inroads in the budget segment and it was doing pretty well too but the same cannot be said about its future. Moto E has been launched at a similar price and it makes the Nokia offering look overpriced to say the least. Let us take a look at what the Nokia X is offering:

  • 4 inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels
  • 1 GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 play processor
  • Adreno 203 GPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • 4GB internal storage which can be expanded by another 32GB with a microSD card
  • Nokia X software based on AOSP Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • 3MP rear camera without flash and no front camera
  • 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n,Bluetooth 3.0 and aGPS for connectivity
  • 1500 mAh battery
  • Black, White, Cyan, Red, Yellow and Green colour options

Samsung Galaxy S Duos 2 (Rs 8,499)

The Galaxy S Duos 2 is one of the few sub Rs 10,000 offerings from Samsung that has been holding its ground against the Chinese and Indian manufacturers for a while. It has a decent set of specs and the Samsung moniker lends good brand image to the device. However, with the launch of Moto G, the S Duos 2 is expected to tread on a rough road henceforth. Here’s a quick look at its specifications:

  • 4.0 inch capacitive display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 768MB RAM
  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
  • 4GB internal storage, expandable up to 64GB with a microSD card
  • 5MP  auto focus rear camera with a LED flash, VGA front camera
  • 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and aGPS for connectivity
  • 1500mAh battery
  • Black and White colour options.

Lava Iris 406Q (Rs 6,999)

Lava mobiles had just launched the Iris 406Q for Rs 6,999 and the Moto G has got itself the same price tag as well. The Iris 406Q was starting to seem as one of the better sub  Rs 7,000 devices off late but the launch of Moto E won’t really go well down the throat of the good folks back at Lava. Let us have a look at what the Iris 406Q is offering for Moto E Price.

  • 4-inch display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels
  • 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor
  • Adreno 302 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB internal memory which can be expanded by another 32GB
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean which will be upgraded soon to Android 4.4 KitKat
  • 5MP rear camera with LED flash and VGA front snapper
  • 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP and GPS
  • 1700 mAh battery
  • Black and White colour options

Conclusion: All the above mentioned come across as good devices when seen without a Moto E by their side but the moment that comes, the better phones in the sub Rs 9,000 segment somehow start to look way overpriced. Motorola has hit the sweet spot with Moto E’s pricing and all these devices should be worried to say the least.
