Indian wireless market is booming from last 2 years to be world’s 2nd maximum mobile population. There are 14 company playing in this field and competition is maximum. With intense Tariff war call rate is reduced to Half a Paisa per Second, cheapest in the World. This market is well ruled by DoT & TRAI. Telecom operators serve both on CDMA & GSM technologies, with 2 different association of COAI & AUSPI. Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL & Reliance are in top 30 telecom operators of the world.
We have summed up an tariff comparison of Pay Per Second with Pay per minute – how customer pay for their calls. This tariff comparison chart will also help to select best operator option for you. You can differentiate your usage pattern – longer calls or shorter calls and therefor you can compare your current operator with all operators’ tariffs. Clearly Second pulse helps to save some coins but per minutes calls with lower tariff for longer calls help you to save more.

in maximum call duration is 3 minutes so BSNL 49p/min plan is best
Himanshu March 18, 2010 at 9:54 am
For longer local calls Tata is the cheapest even with daily rentals.. No debates on that.. For longer STD calls std@50 paise per minute is the cheapest.. Use combination to get the best value..
Ansh December 25, 2009 at 8:28 pm
Hello All,
Similar to the table mentioned above, I personally compared 3 common tariffs available in Indian market, 1p/sec, 50p/sec & Reliance’s Rs1/3min (ignored Tata’s pay per call as it has different charges for local & STD apart from charging daily rental).
If you compare 1p/sec & 50p/sec, 1p/sec is beneficial only for duration (min:sec) listed below-
0:0-0:50
1:0-1:40
2:0-2:30
3:0-3:20
4:0-4:10
So, if your call ends at any time other than the duration mentioned above or after 4min 10seconds, 50p/min will be profitable.
Hence, depending on your personal call pattern you can yourself decide which one is better for you.
Interestingly, if you compare 50p/min & Rs1/3min.. Rs1/3min is a winner everywhere except if you end the call within 1 min.
Whatever option you like, Reliance is the only operator providing you all the choice that too on very affordable recharge amount so atleast in terms of tariff Reliance is best!
Hope this analysis helps you in choosing best tariff as per your need

Noway uninor can survive with its current tariffs, as Tata indicom pay per call just one rupee per ten minutes, Mts with daily rental of one rupee for 2 seconds/1 paise, others like docomo, aircel, idea offering same under Rs.54 rental, Virgin 30 paise/minute with only one rupee rental and above all S tel offering with pay per second with voucher rs 1499/365 days at 60 minutes everyday amounting 7 paise/minute even daily voucher of 9 rupees averages only 15 paise/minute. Soon, Uninor realise their mistake of initiation and then it would be too late, with their tariff of Rs.2 rental and 39 paise call setup charge.

Indeed, Per Sec is just the way to target the fragmented customer with low ARPU. However, it is more expensive the above comparison clearly indicated the same. Moreover, per minute tariff is a real peace of mind, because we never look at the number of seconds we have spoken, its just the balance deducted is checked. In long run i.e. monthly basis the cost of seconds averages out for a per minute subscriber and he tends to gain.

for local calls 1p/2s plan is the best..for short duration call 1p/s is good..!dea’s 40p/min plan in some circles like kolkata, rob(no hidden charge) is also good..
rajiev December 24, 2009 at 9:19 am
koi fark nahi padta dono mein se koi bhi use per sec or per min
Vinayak Pai December 24, 2009 at 8:50 am
There is no best plan as such. It all depends on each call duration. I would say choose the best plan and be happy. Dont keep comparing. Because on one call you might save a few paisa, but on the next call depending on the duration you might even lose a rupee or so. No use cribbing. We are spoilt for choice

Hi,
50 p/min is crap plan.if u talk 4 61 sec-119 secs,charges will be Re.1.
1p/2s is better as u will not waste ur money.suppose u talk 4 average 90 secs ,u will pay only 45 paise.if u average all ur calls of month, this 1p/2s plan is rocking.
for long calls, reliance plan of 1re/3min is gr8.coz even if u talk 4 normally 2 mins ,u will pay re. 1 and if more, till 3 mins then also re.1 and also no monthly rental.
for short calls-1p/2s
for long calls-1re./3min
are best plans
vinay December 24, 2009 at 12:56 am
gr8 work. but complexity in rates of different circles is bound to occur.
however, idea rates of 40 ps/min not taken into account, where first call of the day is at base rate ( 1 rs/min ) n the rest at 40 ps/min. that is cheap for longer callers.
vinay December 24, 2009 at 12:19 am
50 ps/min is cheaper than 1ps/sec for 60 sec. if u talk longer say for 20 min, permin cost 10 rs, persec cost 12rs. difference of 2 rs.however, even a single sec more talk in permin pulse costs 50 ps. so ultimately it reduces to 1.5 rs only.
so too confusing.
howevr, if 30-40ps/min plan if availabl vl b better.
RDB December 23, 2009 at 11:20 pm
thanks mate !
Prasath J December 23, 2009 at 11:18 pm
OH COME ON… You have 1p/2sec local calling for rent MUCH LOWER THAN YOUR UNINOR’s Rs2/day or that $hitty call mole$ting charge of Rs0.39+Rs0.29…
See the FULL TABLE dear friend… It is only Airtel & Vodafone who doesnt have that 1p/2sec local charge…
zareef December 23, 2009 at 10:54 pm
yup till 25th after that first sms 99ps

saket December 23, 2009 at 9:03 pm
why nobody looking for uninor tariff,
Unonor is clear winner for all call above 80second,
I think it is also beting 1p/sec, leave behind rcom’s 1/3min,
Saves cost for 50p/min.
But just fail in front of 1p/2sec.
I think priorites for very short calls(less than 80second)
1 1p/2sec
2 uninor cal more rent Rs2/day, call charges of 29p
3 1p/sec
4 tata 3 pe 3, 1p/sec
5 50p/min
I think priorites for average(normal=short(100sec)+long400-600sec)) calls
1 1p/2sec
2 uninor 29p
3 tata3 pe 3 1p/sec
4 50p/min
5 1/3min
5 1p/sec
I think priorites for very Long(more than 350sec) calls
1 1p/2sec
2 uninor 29p
3 tata3 pe 3 1p/sec
4 50p/min
5 1/3min
6 1p/sec.
This shows that U must go for
2p/sec
or
uninor 29p(either callmore or talkmore).
1p/sec is is complete failure.
Hari December 23, 2009 at 6:56 pm
Pey par second is best
Anuj December 23, 2009 at 6:50 pm
I guess, its available with Tata Indicom. But I am sure that Reliance has 1Re/3min plan available in Maharashtra. Though Reliance promote it as pay per call, it is not actually but still its cheaper.
kaushik December 23, 2009 at 6:15 pm
why ?
Anuj December 23, 2009 at 6:09 pm
Good comparison though! But tariff varies highly from circle to circle.(except for Reliance & Tata Docomo)
Anuj December 23, 2009 at 6:02 pm
Hey. 1p/2sec with Idea!.. lol.. I guess you are talking about only few of circles like ROB, Kolkata etc. Here in Maharashtra, Idea is costliest operator. They have 1p/sec for I2I & 1.2p/sec for Idea to Others. Not that enough, there are lot of hidden terms & conditions like no full talktime recharge, no permission to recharge with other value vouchers like that. Even for other plan of 50p/min, they have condition that first minute of the day at 1Re/min. Vodafone too has simailar tariff in Maharashtra while Airtel has modified both of its plans like 1p/sec for all or 40p/min from second call of the day & 50p/SMS tariff by default with both of this vouchers. Here, only Tata Docomo has 1p/2sec tariff option & Reliance has as usual 3 simply Reliance plans like in all rest of the circles.
jigna chotai December 23, 2009 at 5:01 pm
I THINK YOU HAVE FORGET PAY PER CALL PLAN OF TATA INDICOM RS 1/10 MIN THE CHEPEST ONE FOR LONGER CALL…………..
surendra December 23, 2009 at 4:48 pm
1/2 paise per second is the clear winner
kaushik December 23, 2009 at 4:44 pm
cheapest STD STV is Reliance Re 1 per 3 minute
yogesh December 23, 2009 at 4:44 pm
pay per call is best but not in maharashtra
TUSHAR SHARMA December 23, 2009 at 4:41 pm
Gr8 work …. RDB!!!
Agnivo December 23, 2009 at 4:04 pm
I want to apply STV for cheapest STD calls from Kolkata circle. I guess 50p/min is the least in the market now? (I don’t need per sec plans). I have RGSM/Airtel prepaid. I guess Airtel 32RCV will be the best for me? I don’t want to convert RGSM to simply reliance now as reliance has extended my local R2R tariff of 25p/min for next 90days free of cost!
Jef December 23, 2009 at 4:02 pm
request …can you pls add SMS rate comparison too at bottom for each plans
Prasath J December 23, 2009 at 3:28 pm
1p/2sec is best of all the tariffs available… It is good for both short calls and LONG duration calls…
But for very long calls, Tata Indicom’s 1Re/10min is unbeatable…
ANIRBAN December 23, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Best per secend plan MTS , 95 for lifetime. 1p 2sc.
&
Best per minit plan MTS .
99 recharg with lifetim call charge 30p(local).You can recharge Msaver 49 with Mcard99 which provides you std calls at 49p/min for lifetime.
Rahul December 23, 2009 at 3:07 pm

zareef December 23, 2009 at 3:00 pm
Actually pay per secound plan is bad for those people who speak long calls….
for short speaking pay per secound plan is good….
Emad December 23, 2009 at 2:51 pm
pay per sec plan is very good
i am not agree with you
Emad December 23, 2009 at 2:47 pm
1 rupee per 10 minute is pay per call plan not per minute
IDRIS December 23, 2009 at 2:25 pm
PER Second pay is not good actually. It better to use Reliance Rs.1 /3 mins as it benefits both Customer and Service provider. Normally people speak for at leat 3 mins on an average call.
kaushik December 23, 2009 at 2:04 pm
Tata Indicom has a per minute plan of 10 minute pulse rate
Sanjay Bafna December 23, 2009 at 1:57 pm
Thanks,Comparison Chart is updated for the same.
Rajesh December 23, 2009 at 1:42 pm
BSNL also has a 49p/min. plan which could have been included in the rate comparison for per min. plans of various operators.
kaushik December 23, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Best is 1paise/2 second plan
I just recharged My old Aircel with RC 159 to get this with 180 days validity
Aircel network improves than before , in ROB its coverage is not up to the mark
