Are you using N73 music edition ???

I was using N73 ME when these shots were taken. Currently I’m using Nokia N8 and for internet on PC, I have got Huawei K4505 dongle. I keep these shots (and uploaded the one taken with N73) just to let other know that EDGE is capable of speed upto 50-60KBps and that too on a device having max. 296.6Kbps limit.

    @RDB

I know speed can’t be same everywhere. Btw it was not for you. It was for Sandeep who said that 300Kbps is out of theoretical limits.

To everybody shouting for EDGE giving good speed and blah blah…

MTS is reducing the entry point for wireless broadband. A 3G-CDMA (a.k.a. EVDO) modem is at 1049/999 which is direct match to 3.6Mbps HSDPA modems at 1200.

you are getting good EDGE speed does not mean everyone is experiencing same.

It varies. In Kolkata I find one seller is selling MBlaze worth Rs 999 at Rs 600 with 10GB usage for 1st month. Searching in local market gives better deal than MRP.

We are telling this from our practical experience and not theoretical one. If you are that much theoretical person than practical visit Wikipedia to know EDGE better. I have got SIM of all companies and my works is to test their speed, latency etc. We have used the product and services but it seems you don’t. It not our problem if you haven’t seen speed above 200. Here are the screenshots,

rcom gsm 300kbps !!! in which world do u live man, mars?
u have even broken the theoretical limits.

No I live on moon, not like you who lives on saturn. The theoritical limit of EDGE is 297Kbps. Before commenting please use some brains (if you have one) and google search to find out the answer. And Rcom does give such full throttle speed in many of its circles. Please use products/services before any stupid and naive comments!

In my area TATA Docomo gives around 30KBPS to 40KBPS on EDGE network but the problem is with my handset (nokia e63 class 32 EDGEsupport)it automatically restart every time after downloading around 5MB .whereas it does not hang on 3G network(speed is always above 40KBPS) and also with wifi.

Mr. devx, do you really know what’s the theoretical speed of EDGE network? If you do, you wouldn’t have said so. BTW It is 472 Kbps for current networks and if EDGE+ or Evolved EDGE comes in it can be upto 2Mbps. Vodafone/Reliance network is already upgraded with 2Mbps on EDGE. But the problem is the unavailability of devices that can support speed upto these levels and if EDGE+ comes in, there will be no takers of 3G. But EDGE+ can be a boon for small towns and villages.

Prashant is right. Even I got speed from 320-400Kbps practically with EDGE and that too on a device which supports Class32 EDGE and speed upto 296.6Kbps only. If you need screenshots, I can even provide it. People in many places got 55-60KBps i.e 440-480Kbps with Reliance and Vodafone and thats too on a 2G network in GSM mode. It would be better if you update yourself before commenting.

hello my frnd if u have 3g eneble handset use bsnl 3g sim, then recharge it by 98.YOU WILL GET 3GB.Keep your network mode in umts/3g mode.then u can access high speed internet servise in cheapest rate.

What do you think, we all are idiots here who don’t know about this. Maybe you are getting 3G speed on 2G plan in your area by switching to UMTS mode but in most circles speed is limited to 128Kbps on 3G mode for 2G users and in some like HP it is 256Kbps. And this speed is also good for surfing and low ping time. 3GB is not enough even with 256Kbps. If you are getting, keep enjoying it.

if the speeds were 512 & 784kbps it wd have been a best seller…The day usage should be increased and night usage decreased. something like 15/20 & 25/30 gb.

STUPID AND FOOLISH MTS… WHEN RCOM GSM IS PROVIDING 6GB FOR RS.99 UP TO AROUND 300Kbps SPEED ON EDGE, WHY WOULD SOMEONE PAY RS.499 FOR 8GB DAYTIME AT 256Kbps SPEED?

    http://telecomtalk.info/reliance-mobile-rationalizes-its-2g-gprs-packs/

IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN 30GB AT 512Kbps SPEED FOR RS.499/MONTH! ONLY THEN IT IS WORTH. ELSE USELESS.

It is not worth purchasing EVDO cards as the better option of 3G Cards are already available there in the market which can offer 2G as well as 3G plans.

These speed based plans are like the ones provided by Reliance EVDO. But still its a costly matter with speed upto 256/384Kbps. Vodafone/Reliance EDGE providing same under Rs.100-200. Vodafone’s EDGE speed has increased drastically in last few months in my area. Never goes down below 200+ mark and Max.- 300Kbps. Ping time is also reduced from 600-900ms to 250-300ms. They have reduced data but quality of service is much much better.
