I have a few questions.
1. Is this “Bsnl 4200 Rs unlimited plan for 180 days” still ON?
(If no. What other BSNL unlimited packs are there?)
2. Will an MTNL or Airtel sim(just in case) work on an mmx310g Modem which was originally bought for bsnl 3g?
3. Is MTNL giving 3G unlimited data plan with all India roaming?(Because Last time I checked it was only valid within Mumbai and Delhi)
Thanks In advance.

THINK 1000 TIMES BEFORE BUYING 3G UNLIMITED DATAPLANS of BSNL.
bsnl has not mentioned anything abt FUP. they say it is unlimited without any reduction in speed. BUT THEY ACTUALY RESTRICT THE SPEED AFTER USAGE OF AROUND
10-12GB
SO IF YOU ARE GETING 3.6Mbps (450KBps) max speed, it wil drop down to 256kbps(32KBps) after USAGE OF AROUND 10-12 GB.
if anyone is using unlimited plan, and has crossed usage of 12GB and stil getin 3.6 mbps speed, then plz let me kno..

@Mohammed
if ur signal strength is good… then surely u get more than 150 kBps
Mohammed November 7, 2010 at 8:30 am
Hi All,
I want to know the download speeds in BSNL’s 3G
card for wireless broadband in Bangalore (preferably near majestic area). In the website and
their shops they say its upto 3.1 to 7.2 Mbps
depending on the type of modem device and area.
Assume we have a device which supports 3.1 Mbps,
and a good coverage, then what can be the download speed…?
Does it come more than 150 to 200 KBps(for file download) in the worst case? What is the lowest speed and best speed experienced in your respective areas..?
Gaurav November 6, 2010 at 11:03 am
How do I get these recharges.
I don’t see the online portal.bsnl.in website updated with long term recharges.
We can only recharge with Rs.1500/- for month.
Does anyone has any idea of how can this recharge be done online or do I have to goto a BSNL CSC for the same.
sri November 3, 2010 at 4:20 pm
TT is always right, but the problem is with BSNL staff, they always come, do update things lately and AP BSNL is too late, god knows when will they wakeup, I tried wakingup my local customercare office from the last 3 days and today they wokeup and called me and told that the new tariff is true and effecting from 1st Nov but today is 3rd nov and the tariff announced on 23rd october. I tried calling those webportal managers office from last twodays butno one seems alive there.Sent mail to BSNL headoffice, AP Office and GM , bsnl portal—All seems not alive.

@Ajay Rao
Yes.Its just a fault in BSNL systems, which is being rectified in most of the circles.
Now,your 2G sim won’t get registered on 3G network. So no tricks. This trick worked on old sim for some time.I think for 2G to 3G migration,BSNL allowed 2G sims access to 3G network initially.
ATHUL October 28, 2010 at 10:42 am
this is true i confirm it from the bsnl CSC Kerala trivandrum.

Ganesh October 26, 2010 at 11:30 am
Go BSNL GO!!!! BSNL rocks! I am using BSNL 3G and it’s simply great! FYI- For SIM cards converted from 2G to 3G, the speed is around 256kbps to 512 kbps (this is not a technical issue though, BSNL employs trafficshapping). For full speed, go for a new 3G SIM! I get around 120 to 200kbps!
Satish October 26, 2010 at 9:55 am

good unlimited 3G offer by bsnl. wish bsnl would come with fair and good 3G limited download offers for average users, like… Rs.200 = 4-5GB download. this is what majority of Indians need + can afford.
Debjyoti October 24, 2010 at 11:39 pm
Good plan but in my area 3g is not working properly. Signal strength is very low.
riju October 24, 2010 at 11:36 pm

Different cellular technologies have different subscriber authentication modules:
GSM – SIM
W-CDMA/UMTS – USIM
CDMA2000 – R-UIM
mayur October 24, 2010 at 7:35 pm
only bsnl can do it….need proper marketing about 3g in particular area. . .

PDNair October 24, 2010 at 6:48 pm
@ankush
Ankuji, I am a staunch supporter of BSNL now and have landline with BB and cell. Earlier while in Mumbai metro I had mtnl LL. Even now I have 8 sims of Dolphin. Now I am suffering because these numbers are very old and fearing loosing contacts. I had 4 and got 4 as free gift. All of them are active and being used when in metro area (I stay close to Mumbai metro). They charge Rs.1/50 if u call any private player while roaming which is default for me. Since in monopolistic time they were less interested in proper service. Now majboori hai. I have made many representations and nobody hears. The private players too are giving given them in their own coins and charge exorbitantly if called a BSNL/MTN number. Why can they understand. IF they simply follow the tariff of other players no nobody can beat them. Thay have unlimited infrastructure and human resources at their disposal still make losses !
santu October 24, 2010 at 6:37 pm
I have told earlier that only Bsnl can make affordable 3g tariffs. We all shouldn’t forget that BSNL(NIB) is best in broadband services despite the presence of private operators. So, in case of data services they are ahead of the private players.
Binu Kumar S October 24, 2010 at 6:35 pm
The service is wonderful, transparent billing, no issues for me till date in trivandrum, More coverage in coming days, best to be with BSNL than blood sucking private players; Private players need a mininum of 900 rs/customer; so they are sure to squeeze you out. So be with BSNL, in long run you are going to benefit. For 2G take HOME SIM; wonderful scheme.
Govind Maheshwar October 24, 2010 at 6:10 pm
I Can’t believe this ,Is that offer really from BSNL?????
anandh October 24, 2010 at 6:08 pm

what does 3g usim mean?
can i use it in my hsdpa?
madhu prasad October 24, 2010 at 6:04 pm
Is their any condition apply eg. Fair Usage Policy, where in there is a data cap and speed cap, as many private operators do.
madhu prasad October 24, 2010 at 6:02 pm
Lets see who will break the Rs. 500 barrier
TD October 24, 2010 at 5:58 pm
What about service? Only in some area that is ok, but other areas are worst… In my area no 3g signal for more than 2 days now, my broadband landline is now down for 5 days… This is more important…. In my area no other broadband or cable internet provider available… Bad luck for me….:(
Mehatab Sulatn October 24, 2010 at 5:47 pm
Woow..BSNL ROCK..super cool news.. only bsnl can provide affordable 3g in india.

Dear Amit.g ,
What happens in 2010..
Kiran Reddy October 24, 2010 at 5:37 pm
Offer really reaches the people when 3G network is fully established by BSNL in all major cities. I am using BSNL 3G from past 5 months in hyderabad but i did do a single video call till today because there are very few users of 3G here.
Shyam October 24, 2010 at 5:27 pm
Really man,
BSNL 3G really rocks. Its much faster than wired broadband . Their customer support also very good now (Unlike the past) .You can go and check speed of 3G any time at BSNL Customer Care center .
Amit October 24, 2010 at 5:03 pm

Amit.g October 24, 2010 at 4:09 pm
BSNL indirectly f***** private operator’s *** . now its really tough for private operators to get back invested money on 3g before 2013
lee October 24, 2010 at 3:59 pm
Does docomo have to go back to their blue-prints?
lee October 24, 2010 at 3:58 pm

Bsnl 3G rocks.. price war has really started now…
Private operators better launch some cheaper unlimited plans otherwise you will lose your consumers
steve October 24, 2010 at 3:17 pm
can i use this on my 3g handset. or this is only for usb data card users
Swapnil October 24, 2010 at 3:12 pm
What about the speed and signal.? Anyone from my city using it. I would like to know that are they providing good service or not?. And how much speed you are getting.?
Swapnil October 24, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Thats great news.
I’ll definitely use this unlimited plans.
But,
This means they can reduce the price further after the launch of 3G service from other operators.
So, 3G will be available at cheaper rates than what we are thinking.
BSNL rocks…
pankaj October 24, 2010 at 2:52 pm
bsnl 3g not working good in patna

Karthik Kumar V G October 24, 2010 at 2:33 pm
Very good offer…So now they have made EVDO and 3G unlimited plans almost equal…Also i would like to tell here BSNL has increased there indoor coverage in Chennai when compared to last year…Now I am getting signal inside my home…I am sure it may take some time for the private operators to reach this mark..
steve October 24, 2010 at 2:33 pm
BSNL you rock the nation…….come on idia dikaddo

Benny October 24, 2010 at 2:28 pm
@PDNair
@PDNair R u crazy? who said BSNL/MTNL dint make any impact in 2G? Go to remote villages, no one but Bsnl will give u mobile and broadband there
Webly October 24, 2010 at 2:26 pm
3G war starts….
If we get say 2GB download for Rs. 100 then it’s cool.
And i’m sure 3G will go still cheaper, once the pvt. operators start the service.
Way to go bsnl…
azam ali khan October 24, 2010 at 2:24 pm
bsnl 3g data speed is very slow, mujhe tata docomo 3g ka wait hai.
Benny October 24, 2010 at 2:24 pm
Let the tariff war begin!
Hope goddam airtel saw this.
I bet u guys Airtel will never ever give unlimited plans without fair usage policy of around 10 to 12 GB.
If private players have higher tariffs they ought to be taught a lesson
ankush October 24, 2010 at 2:14 pm
u r right mr. PDNair but u knw y they are late in launching late in 3G??? Before commencing the 3G services BSNL had to vacate the spectrum of 3G band from army/airforce for themselve and for the pvt operators…and dont say toothless bcuz they are of our Indian Govt. companies which are giving its services to far flung areas where they are focussing abt tribes not abt revenue…..
Amit.g October 24, 2010 at 2:07 pm
This s unbelievable man really awesome
Keshav Jha October 24, 2010 at 2:01 pm
Oh my god! Price war has been started.
PDNair October 24, 2010 at 1:56 pm
No one, especially, the private players may not have worries because both PSUs are toothless tigers ! Have they made any impact on 2G, No. They got 3g spectrum years back and still BSNL have not started in all the circles. OK, tariff makes attractive but how about services !
santu October 24, 2010 at 1:54 pm
wow! fabulous!
Arun October 24, 2010 at 1:54 pm
means the data wars are going to be started soon Sounds cool!!
