3G AUCTION PROCESS DELAYED!

3G-IndiaIndia’s upcoming 3G auctions is set for yet another delay reports UTVi according to UTVi a top source in the telecom ministry has cited that Telecom Minister A Raja wants the matter to be referred before the empowered group of ministers eGoM .

Earlier, the matter was to be decided by the cabinet, which could have expedited the process if the matter goes to the eGoM,the auctions will take place only after September 2009.

The 3G auctions were initially supposed to happen in January 2009. The group of ministers formed then under the chairmanship of Pranab Mukherjee could not arrive at a consensus. Now, with the Telecom Minister’s wish to refer the matter to eGoM means that the roll out of third generation wireless services by private operators will happen only by January 2010. However, TelecomTalk could not independently confirm this
