Vodafone is targeting basic users in recent times and the same continues with the all-new Rs 99 prepaid plan. Vodafone has introduced a new voice-only prepaid plan of Rs 99 to take on Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel. It's a voice-only plan from Vodafone, but it's valid for all the users in circles where Vodafone has its 4G operations. Unfortunately, Vodafone users in 3G circles will not be able to recharge this plan. With this new addition, Vodafone puts itself against incumbent telcos, but sadly, Vodafone's plan only offers voice benefits, while Airtel and Jio both are providing data, voice and SMS benefits with their similarly priced tariff plans.
Vodafone Rs 99 Prepaid Plan Benefits
As mentioned above, it's a voice-only prepaid plan for users in Vodafone 4G circles. Talking about the benefits, the plan gives unlimited local, STD and roaming voice calls for a period of 28 days. Having said that, it's unknown whether Vodafone is capping the voice calls to 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week because the telco did not state the same on its website or mobile application. Most likely, the voice calls will be capped because Vodafone did not launch a prepaid plan until now with truly unlimited calling like Reliance Jio or Bharti Airtel.
Vodafone Rs 99 Prepaid Plan is a Monthly Tariff Plan
Yes, the best part with this prepaid plan is its validity. Vodafone has launched the Rs 99 Bonus Card with 28 days validity and not a week or two weeks. That said, the validity of the plan keeps the telco on-par with Jio's Rs 98 and Airtel's Rs 99 tariff plan. Vodafone is also offering a Rs 75 prepaid plan with limited voice benefits, but it also ships with data and SMS benefits too.
Vodafone Rs 99 Prepaid Plan vs Jio Rs 98 Prepaid Plan
In the affordable prepaid tariff segment, Jio is unbeatable for a while now, thanks to the Rs 98 prepaid plan which it launched earlier this year. The Rs 99 prepaid plan from Vodafone just offers voice calling benefits, while on the other hand, Jio is giving unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit, 2GB of 4G data and 300 SMSes. The Jio plan is also valid for 28 days from the date of recharge.
Vodafone Rs 99 Prepaid Plan vs Airtel Rs 99 Prepaid Plan
Bharti Airtel is also offering a Rs 99 prepaid plan, same as Vodafone, but like Jio, it also gives all three data, voice calling and SMS benefits. Airtel's Rs 99 plan for some users is offering 2GB of 2G/3G/4G data, unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit and 100 SMS per day for 28 days, while for some users, it gives 2GB of data, unlimited calling and 2800 SMS for 28 days.
Vodafone Lags Behind Airtel and Reliance Jio
After comparing the Rs 99 prepaid plan of Vodafone with those of Jio's and Airtel's, it's clearly evident that the UK-based telco is lagging behind the other two telecom operators. Vodafone's plan offers just voice calling benefits, but Jio's plan is giving all the three benefits, and it's an open market plan valid across all the circles. Airtel's plan is valid for some users, but it offers way better benefits than Vodafone's plan.
