MSOs stop airing TV9 channels in Telangana

TV9 had faced a setback in Telangana after they aired defamatory content on their channel. The channel had also received a warning to strictly follow the Programme Code and the advertisement code from rules 6 and 7 of the cable Televisions Networks Rule. TV9 rendered a thoughtful apology for allegedly telecasting ‘Defamatory content’ followed by which Telecom Disputes Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) ordered the MSOs to restart the TV9 signals.

However even after the tribunal's judgement the MSOs in Telangana have not aired the channel stating that they are receiving constant threats from sinister elements. TDSAT has requested the Government to provide protection to the MSOs. TV9 has been in the fray directly or indirectly in numerous cases across different regions. This entire ordeal gives birth to a question on how to make the broadcasters more mature and sensitive about the content they care failing which they should be fined heavily.
