VoLTE Rollout with Domestic Technology

This partnership enabled T2 to deploy Voice over LTE using components from the domestic manufacturer Protey in regions including Tomsk, Ulan-Ude, Orenburg, Kurgan, Birobidzhan, Yekaterinburg, Ivanovo, and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, the official release said.

Since August, T2 has steadily expanded VoLTE availability, now covering over half of its customer base in supported regions. Currently, 53 percent of all voice traffic in these areas is conducted over the 4G network. T2 said that by the end of the year, VoLTE will be available in all regions where the operator has a presence.

Benefits of VoLTE for T2 Customers

T2 reported that it began the large-scale rollout of this technology in August, initially covering two regions with VoLTE. In September, it expanded to six additional regions, and in the first three weeks of October, it added another fifteen.

VoLTE allows users to make high-quality voice calls over 4G without interrupting internet access or using mobile data. It also improves call setup times, voice clarity, and battery life by eliminating the need to switch to 2G/3G, T2 explained.
