Sunday Talk: What’s Your Pick Between Jio Yearly and Short-Term Prepaid Plans?

Follow Us

Reliance Jio has introduced a new prepaid plan after nearly ten months. As always, the telco has introduced the best yearly prepaid plan in the industry. Yes, I am speaking about the newly launched Rs 1,699 annual plan. Unlike the other plans that we have talked about here, this new plan comes with a long-term validity, as much as a year-long, but unlike the earlier launched yearly prepaid plans from the company, this new plan comes with daily data FUP. I have previously talked about how Reliance Jio has changed the face of the industry by introducing plans which have been bundled in an entirely different way.

Plans with data validity which stretched up to a year's validity were mostly unheard of before Reliance Jio. However, Reliance Jio has definitely changed the trend for good. Now subscribers of Reliance Jio can avail plans which are valid for as much as a year. I think that this is a good thing, given that people are becoming more and more dependent on data.

Further, it is also my opinion that long-term plans offer a better overall experience for the user since a single recharge allows them to go on for days without bothering for lapsing validity, less talk time or other worries which used to concern the subscribers in the pre-Reliance Jio years. Now Reliance Jio seems to be building upon that planning structure.

The new prepaid plan of Rs 1,699 offers 547.5GB data in the entire validity period of 365 days or one year. The rest of the benefits of this plan remain the same as other Reliance Jio plans which ship free unlimited calling, 100 SMS benefit per day and a free subscription to Reliance Jio applications.

I would also like to tell that there’s more to this new plan. If we run a simple calculation it’s apparent that this new plan doesn’t really offer anything new, it merely provides the same benefits as other Reliance Jio prepaid plans which ship 1.5GB daily 4G data. Still, on taking a closer look, I found out that the monthly plan of Rs 149 recharged over 12 months, will get the subscribers the same data benefit and it will cost Rs 1,788.

It is apparent that this new Rs 1,699 long-term validity plan by Reliance Jio has been launched to avail easier, hassle-free services for the subscribers. This new plan of Rs 1,699 is not only cheaper than the monthly recharges for the entire year, but also it means that the subscribers will just have to recharge their number once in a whole year. So, it’s my opinion that for someone who has been a regular user of 1.5GB daily data plan by Reliance Jio, then the Rs 1,699 prepaid plan by Reliance Jio makes sense. Since the users will be saved from the hassle of recharging their number again and again after every 28 days, and also, they will be saving a few bucks in the process.

Down in the comments below, tell us whether or not you will buy the year-long validity plan by Reliance Jio.
