Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio has brought two new prepaid data packs for customers. These two new plans, as you can tell from the headline, cost Rs 19 and Rs 29. This seems like a strategic move to lure customers into recharging with these plans who want slightly more data than 1GB or 2GB. Jio has always maintained its position as the most affordable private telecom operator, and these new plans aren't going to demolish that image. From a competition point of view, they are of great value. Let's take a look at the two newly added Rs 19 and Rs 29 prepaid data boosters.

Reliance Jio Rs 19 Prepaid Pack

Reliance Jio is offering the Rs 19 data pack with 1.5GB of data. The validity of this data pack is the same as the user's existing prepaid pack. This would be a step up from the Rs 15 pack, which offers 1GB of data. So now, if you want an extra 500MB of data, you just need to pay Rs 4 extra. This plan can serve as a decoy effect for users.

A decoy effect is when companies price two offerings or services very close to each other, where going for the slightly more expensive offering makes more sense for the customer. Let's move on to the Rs 29 prepaid pack now.

Reliance Jio Rs 29 Prepaid Plan

The Rs 29 prepaid plan comes with 2.5GB of data. This plan also has the same validity as the active base prepaid plan of the user. This plan would also serve as a decoy effect for users who like recharging with the existing Rs 25 data booster plan. The Rs 25 plan from Jio comes with 2GB of data. So now, instead of 2GB, users can just pay Rs 4 more and get 2.5GB, which seems like a better deal. While this keeps Jio as the most affordable operator, it also allows the company to boost its average revenue per user (ARPU) figure by a small margin.
