TRAI will share the recommendations of the base price relating to the auction of the 800 MHz spectrum band in which is used for offering CDMA services by the end of this month, earlier TRAI suggested that there was no need for auction of the 800 MHz spectrum and an extended GSM band should be adopted, taking spectrum out of this band. But a DoT committee had opposed the recommendation.

TRAI

Sistema Shyam Teleservices was the only operator that took part in the auction last year and the same will be the only one this year as well in all likelihood. TRAI is also looking towards giving  recommendations for 3G and 4G spectrum as well. Under this, the 1900 MHz, 2100 MHz and 700 MHz bands will be auctioned.

Even for 800MHz previously Tata, MTS and Rcom were in favour of keeping the reserve price at 0.65 times of the price determined at the 2013 auctions, but the GSM operators like Vodafone and Airtel said the 800MHz which should be priced on the lines of 900MHz band.

Do you think 800Mhz will see much competition do let us know via comments.
