Reliance Communications has silently expanded their CDMA Rev B phase II services, Pro 3 to three new metros - Mumbai, Pune & Hyderabad. Initially the service was limited to Bangalore & Chennai.
Unlike MTS (Ultra offers up to 9.8Mbps) & Tata Docomo (Photon Max offers upto 6.2Mbps), Reliance Pro 3 is using 3 carriers to boost the downlink upto 14.7 Mbps.
Rcom was the pioneer of CDMA technology in India, they launched Rev A based Netconnect+ - first 3rd generation mobile broadband in India. However that was during Mukesh Ambani's leadership. Later Ambani brothers split & broke up the Reliance empire. Younger brother Anil took the charge of Rcom.
Rcom entered into GSM segment in 2006-2007 and following that their CDMA business was heavily compromised. It's good to see that Rcom is pushing data over CDMA platform too.
Details of Reliance Pro 3 including postpaid plans (no prepaid till now), device details can be seen in our previous post.
