Panasonic Eluga S, a selfie-focussed smartphone, unveiled at Rs. 11,190

Panasonic initially introduced the Eluga series of devices in India in the year 2012 before discontinuing it. The company revived the series again this year with Eluga A and Eluga U. Today, the company added one more smartphone, Eluga S, to the Eluga series. The selfie-centered smartphone comes at a price tag of Rs 11,190 and will be up for grabs towards the end of this month.

The most talked about feature of the Eluga S is its 5-megapixel front-facing camera which is adorned with a feature called ‘Blink Play’.  The feature enables camera for a three-second countdown when the user blinks his eyes, the blink activates the mode and within 3 seconds it clicks a smooth selfie, that too handsfree.

In terms of specifications, the Eluga S comes with a 5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) IPS display, and it is powered by a 1.4GHz MediaTek octa-core processor, coupled with 1GB of RAM. The phone has an 8GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 32GB via microSD.

The device sports an 8-megapixel rear camera capable of shooting full HD (1080p) videos. The connectivity features on-board are 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth. The phone runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat and is backed by a 2100mAh battery. It has a unibody design and is 7.9 mm thick with 135 grams of weight. It will be available in two colours, Black and White.

Commenting at the launch, Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said, “We are sure that Panasonic’s Eluga smartphone range has certainly raised the bar of standard to a great level and has the potential to succeed in the Indian market. This is the third phone is the Eluga series which defines our willingness to embrace new technology in a market like India. As we launch new devices, we will continue to innovate for our customers.”

Panasonic Eluga S, at a price tag of Rs 11,190 will be rivaling against selfie-focused smartphones such as Karbonn Titanium S19, and the Lava Iris X5.
