Motorola's upper mid-range Moto Z3 Play smartphone has now gone through FCC today, which revealed the key specifications of the upcoming smartphone. The Z3 Play will don the XT1929 model number, like the other Motorola smartphones which arrive with the similar XT model numbers. The Moto Z2 Play was a minor upgrade to the first generation Moto Z Play, however, the Z3 Play will be a good upgrade to the Z2 Play. The smartphone will pack the energy-efficient Snapdragon 636 SoC, same as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone and will arrive in two storage variants with the same amount of RAM but varied storage.
As per the FCC listing, the Moto Z3 Play will sport a 6.1-inch display, and it could be an 18:9 panel without any notch placed on the top. However, the increase in display size will raise some questions about the current Moto Mods support. Motorola had earlier confirmed that the first two generations of Moto Z smartphones would support the Moto Mods releasing with the first generation of Moto Z lineup of smartphones. But this time around, the screen size is getting a bump in almost all the 2018 Motorola phones including the Moto Z3 Force and the Moto Z3 Play.
Besides the display, the phone is rumoured said to be powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM. The device will arrive in two storage options of 32GB and 64GB. There will be a microSD card slot for storage expansion.
Talking about the cameras, the phone is listed to arrive with a 12MP primary sensor at the back, paired with a secondary 8MP sensor, which could feature telephoto lens. The phone will be available in the US initially on Verizon network and will be launched in Asian, North American, Brazilian, and Latin American markets as well. A dual-SIM model of the Moto Z3 Play will be launched in India.
The listing also revealed that the device would be priced between $450 and $500, same as the Moto Z2 Play's price. But in India, it's expected to go above Rs 25,000 mark, thanks to the Moto Mods. A leaked render already confirmed that the phone would have bezel-less design and unimetal body. The Moto Z3 Play is expected to go official next month alongside other Moto devices such as the Moto G6 lineup, Moto E5 lineup and more.
