Instagram, the popular photo-sharing application has picked up an update adding an option to save your live videos. Yes, Instagram is finally adding the much-asked feature by its users. To recall, Instagram recently added the ‘Live’ videos feature, where you can directly interact with the audience, same as the Facebook Live.
The feature for saving live videos is added in the application version 10.12, and you need to update your app in respective app stores to get the feature working. That said, Instagram already pushed the latest version to Google Play Store and App Store.
How to use this feature? It’s very simple. Start a live video as you usually do by swiping left from the home screen and interact with the people. At the end of the video, you can see a new download button at the right corner. By clicking that button, your video will be saved to your phone.
In Facebook Live video, a popup appears right after the broadcast asking to post the video. If you press post, the video will be posted onto your timeline, and you can watch it later. But, that isn’t the case with Instagram, though as the video will be saved to your phone, and not your timeline.
“Starting today, you’ll have the option to save your live video to your phone at the end of a broadcast. While live videos will continue to disappear from the app when you’re done, this update gives you the flexibility to hold onto your video and re-watch it later, especially if something exciting happens during your broadcast that you want to remember or share,” says Instagram in their blog post.
The Facebook-owned company also claims that they will be adding more features to the live video in this year and this is just beginning. Besides Instagram, Facebook is making all its platform uniform with same features such as stories, disappearing messages, etc. Recently, the social networking giant rolled out an update to WhatsApp that added stories like ‘Status,’ same as Instagram Stories and the same feature is reportedly live in the Facebook app as well in some countries.
